disney dollars no longer at the stores

I was in New York this past week and stopped by the World of Disney while I was there. When I was checking out and I asked for some Disney Dollars and the guy told me that they didn't have them anymore and that all stores where doing away with them. He told me that some of the other stores might still have some but they were not going to continue them. Has anyone else heard this??

Hmmm ... I just received $40 in Disney dollars from my sister for my birthday.

Weird, if this is the case then maybe Disney is distancing itself from the outfit that runs the Disney stores?

Well, I don't know for sure, but the guy may not know what he is talking about. My guess is that the store ran out of it, and he heard a rumor from one of his co-workers, but I could be wrong.

If this was true, they'd probably still have the electronic gift cards.

I hate stupid people. I didn't have time to check any of the other stores but I hope they are not discontinuing them. Also, He did tell me that they had the gift cards but it's just not the same.

I am not sure what he is talking about because I work at the Disney Store and we have plenty of them and when we run out (and we do occasionally) we get more in. Nobody said anything to me about doing away with them. People come in all day long and purchase them for their vacations and to give as gifts. I am definately going to inquire and look into this because I have alot of Disney Dollars saved up for our trip in December. I don't think this information is true.

Hi everybody, I have read this site for over a year, but have never found the time to post between college and work. I was reading this post and i had to sign up to the site so i could answer this question. The answer is that Disney Dollars are not going anywhere. All the World of Disney stores, including the one in New York, which is where i live, do not sell the Disney Dollars, they have only sold gift cards. The regular Disney Stores, which can be found at any mall nation-wide still and will continue to sell Disney Dollars. Disney Dollars can only be bought at Disneyland (the "A" series), Disney World (the "D" series) and the regular Disney Stores ( the "T" series). Just wanted to clear things up for you guys, and i look forward to posting more in the future!

Any 'World of Disney' IS run by The Walt Disney Company.

Its 'The Disney Store' that are run by Children's Place.

I am not sure why everyone takes what a cast member says as the absolute truth. They do not take all 50,000 cast members at wdw and tell them all the secrets and truths.

I have always had to buy the Disney Dollars at the guest services at the stores or a place like that. The registers usually have them when someone uses them.

was down at disney in the beginning/middle of this month adb we got princess disney dollars for my aunt from guest relations at magic kingdom. the lady told us that guest relations at any of the parks sells them.
