Anyone done this yet?

From the AP:

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Walt Disney Co. has sold 125,000 digital copies of films through Apple Computer Inc.’s iTunes store in less than a week, generating $1 million, Disney chief executive Robert Iger said Tuesday.
Disney expects revenue of $50 million in the first year from its iTunes partnership, Iger said at an investment conference in New York sponsored by Goldman Sachs.
"Clearly customers are saying to us they want content in multiple ways," Iger said.
So far, Disney is the only studio selling films on iTunes. Disney was also the first studio to agree last year to sell television shows on iTunes. Other studios quickly followed suit.
Iger also said Disney will concentrate more on offering content on its own Web sites rather than selling TV shows and films on every emerging platform. Disney has yet to strike deals to sell content through Google Inc.’s video store, for instance, or similar efforts launched by Yahoo Inc. and others.
"We are choosy in terms of the partners we pick," Iger said.
He said Disney feels confident it will have no trouble finding distribution for its content and that it is focusing on building Web sites such as Disney.com, which will relaunch next year, into "the networks of the future in our company."
Iger said selling shows online has not cannibalized sales of DVDs, nor has it hurt traditional TV viewing.
Apple CEO Steve Jobs recently became Disney’s largest shareholder and a board member after he sold his other company, Pixar Animation Studios, to Disney. Iger said the relationship has helped him better understand some of the technology Apple is developing.
"He has become very quickly not only a great sounding board but a great adviser," Iger said.

I've looked around the iTUNES store since the new stuff but I really have no reason to download any of the movies, I'd rather buy it on DVD then a low quality version.

I downloaded the movie The Wild. I connected my ipod to my 24in flat screen sony tv and the picture was great. Not as good as a dvd but better than cable tv. The only problem is file size which was large. I even burned it to a dvd recorder (not a computer one but a home theater one) and it looked great.

Its nice to see the Disney company once again taking some risks and being the first to introduce its product in new ways. Since Iger took over, there has been a real obvious push at Disney in advancing technology and how Disney delivers its product to consumers. First it was making TV shows available for Ipods, then making TV shows available on their website the day after they air and now making movies available for Ipod downloads. All of this has prompted OTHER companies to follow suit and its nice to see Disney leading the pack once again. Similarly, it looks like technology and finding new ways to entertain guests at its theme parks is becoming a priority (i.e. the Kim possible game being tested at Epcot)

How do you connect your iPod to a TV?

They sell a cable from ipod which is expensive. They have a cable at Radio Shack which is for camcorders which has a 1/8 plug on one end and the 3 RCA jacks on the other. The cable from RS is wired a little diffrent than ipods. You have to connect the red wire to the yellow video plug on the tv. Then connect the yellow wire and the white wire to the red and white audio connections. The RS cable is 17$.

I have to agree with you here. It's great to see Disney taking the steps to be back on top of the business. I just hope that this forward motion translates to the parks!:lookaroun

Got the new iPod today and downloaded A Bug's Life and The Incredibles. The screen is small (but what do you expect -- it's a hand-held device) but picture and sound are amazing. I know what I'll be watching on my next flight to WDW.

Better get a power cord for it, Im not sute the batteries would even last for one whole movie. Mine is 6mo old and wont go for more than 70 to 80 min.

I already got Black Pearl, and preordered Little Mermaid/Dead Man's Chest. I can't wait to see what movies they add next (Finding Nemo/Lion King please!)
