I have read pros and cons. We will be trying it for the first time this trip. What are the biggest mistakes or issues that arise when trying to redeem the plan throughout the parks.

We have never really had any issues. The castmembers are very good about explaining what comes with the plan at both the quick service places and the table service restaurants.

There are dining plan symbols next to items throughout the World that you can buy with snack credits so that makes it very easy.

Just remember that tips for table service restaurants are not included in the dining plan so be ready for that. Also, make sure you know which restaurants take 2 credits so you can plan accordingly. Finally, make sure to make ADRs because the popular restaurants are booked quickly.

I think the dining plan is very user friendly and convenient. It's nice to be able to swipe your room key and be done.

Tipping Issue.

Yep,Good point by Crispy. We usually eat at CS tho we still have our ADRS for TS. Last visit two years ago,we done five ADRS for table service meals and our tips totalled $190.00 ,that's a lot of dollars and that's just for five TS.

:ROFLOL: Yes but how much would you have spent without the dinning plan and then added 190.00 to it.

Dinning plan is a fantastic headache free perk. YOU MUST make Advanced Dinning Reservations ASAP (you can start 180 days out) if you want to get the full enjoyment from your plan.

Yep,there's that to look at also. But we are going for 14 nights and if we had 14 ADRS in a row we would be three times the size we are now. There's no way I can afford to move into the premium seats on the plane back to Glasgow.:ROFLOL:

I am doing the Dining Plan this year for the first time and am very excited about it. I feel like I've made reservations at places I woudn't have normally eaten at due to the cost. It is very important to make ADR ASAP. I wanted to dine at Ohana's and tried to book as soon as I had my Resort reservations and they had nothing available for the 4 nights that we are there.

Good Luck!

We used the basic dining plan on one visit and found it to not meet our requirements - we rarely use counter service - for the past few years we have purchased the delux dining plan and found it to be a much better fit.

You don't have to use all the menu offerings from appetizers to deserts and find yourself overeating.

Make your ADR's as soon as possible and fully enjoy not being concerned with the $$ on the menu. :xmas::xmas:

We have used it for every trip after our first one. Just remember to use your snack credits wisely. Fox example, pay for the 20oz coke out of pocket, since it is only about 2.50. Use your credit on something that is usually 4.00 or so out of pocket and you will see what I mean.

My favorite advice for determining if the dining plan is worth it for you, got to www.allears.net and check out the up to date menues for EVERY eating establishment in WDW, including snack kisoks and resort restaurants. Take a bit and think..."ok, I'm in MK and it's lunch time. I'd most likely eat at Cosmic Rays and this is what we'd eat". Check out TS restaurants you'd most likely want to try. Be sure to figure in snacks, drinks, etc. Add it all up for everyone in your party, and after you wake up from the fainting sticker shock, compare that to what the dining plan would cost. Also, if you have older teens that might want to separate from you, with the dining plan thier lunck is already paid for, and along as they understand the credits.

It is worth it!

I would have to say that the DDP is worth it! Yes- there are tips to add, and yes it can be nearly 20$ per meal or more depending upon the type of service you get.
But, it is nice to know you can just use your key to the world card and forget about it:-)
It really is the snacks that can add up money wise.:)

I have a question about the DDP, can 1 person opt out? I have to book a family reunion for next summer, we want to go with the DDP but one family has a 9 year old with CP, he has to have his food blended and does not eat much can we book a room and tickets for 4 and then just get the DDP for 3 so that we can pack his meals?

No the entire party must take the plan.

I like the dining plan & have used it 4 times. The regular plan will give you way more than you can possibly eat on your trip. We always seem to have at least a couple of snacks left at the end so we get something in the food court with those for our homeward trip. One thing I consider a drawback with the regular plan that gives you a sitdown meal per day is that when you have an advance reservation every day, you have to hang close to where your res is, be it in the park or at your resort or drop whatever you're doing at least an hour & a half prior & head for that location. That's what has made me consider on our next trip maybe having one or two ADRs & doing the rest of the meals thru quick service.

I would call and ask for an exception. It is worth a try. It seems to be appropriate and I do hope that they can see that an exception is warranted in this case.

Selection. I was trying to get a dessert at CSR once and she kept telling me I couldn't have it. I kept telling her I wasn't on a plan and was going to pay for it, but she kept insisting I couldn't have it. I finally got someone else to get it out for me...

...but I realized selection is an issue for dining plans, lol.

Yes we know the rule....all must participate....BUT! this is where Disney shines like no other. When it comes to circumstances like this Disney goes above and beyond to go out of thier way to acommdate these types of special needs.

Call and explain the situation and you will pleasently surprised. Please let us no the outcome.
