If we get the dining plan for myself, my husband and our children, and then invite some friends to dine with us, can we use our credits to pay for everyone’s meal?

You used to be able to.
However I think the wording changed so that you can only use credits for the number of people on the reservation.
Presumably that was to stop the strategy of book 2 rooms, one with the dining plan and one without, and share credits.
I don’t know how much they enforced the new rule though.

You used to be able to pay for another guest's meal using your credits. This year it is now restricted to the number of people on your reservation. For example, you have a party of 4 in your room with DDP, you can use a total of 4 credits on a TS meal even if there are 6 people at the table.

No, you can’t use QS credits for a TS meal.

How does this work with room sharing? For example, my husband is in a different room than me. I have the dining plan and he does not. If our disney reservations are linked and we are dining together, can I apply 2 table service credits to our meal? Thank you.

How many are booked into your room? If there are at least 2 people in your room, you can use 2 credits if only the 2 of you are dining. But if there are 4 people in your room and 4 people in DH's room and all 8 are dining together, only a total of 4 credits can be used.
