So, I have been reading a lot of the trip reports and love every one of them... so let me try my hand at one. Since my trip is not until the end of September, this then is my pre-trip report....
Exactly a year ago I was in WDW with some of my best friends in the world - most of them newbies to the magic. Needless to say, we had a phenomenal time. About halfway through that trip we were so Disney-static we wanted to come back for Food and Wine..... During the last three years I have had quite a bit of personal problems that created issues financially, emotionally and employmentally that my Disney trips have been few and far between.... The past month I have realized I need a dose of Disney magic and have kicked my planning into high gear.
I booked us at my home resort of Saratoga Springs back in November and counted the days till I could try to switch us over to Boardwalk (which is where we were last year)....
The time arrived yesterday morning. I was able to move my reservation without a problem.... But I was worried that when I had to move my friend's from SSR to BWV today there would be an issue.
Sure enough, I was correct. The first DVC person I spoke to had all sorts of issues trying to accomplish what I wanted. I was on the website at 7:30 am and knew the 2 bedroom lockoff was available, but by the time 9 am arrived, he told me it wasn't. So I said I would take a 1 BR and a studio. He had me on hold for 7 minutes. Now, usually that would not be a problem, but currently I am a substitute teacher and I had 15 minutes to get this done...and when I am on hold for seven of the fifteen, anxiety kicks in. Anyway, the DVC CM put me on hold a second time even though I said I now had less than five minutes to complete the call. When he came back he said that there were no more 1 BR, but they had the studio available. I said book it, as I did not want to lose the room and I had to get to my class. He needed a name to put the room under (he said I could not use mine...) so I panicked and gave him the only friend who's info I know by heart. The bell rang for class, and I raced to get to my class (which by the way went to see a really cool assembly that had a wolf as part of it. I had never been that close to a wolf and wanted to play with him, but that's another story...)
So....after the assembly, I come back to the classroom and since I have a free period, I call DVC to correct the name on the room and to add one more day to my reservation. This time I get Trixie on the phone. Oh, how I loved Trixie. I told her what had happened this morning and what I needed/wanted to do and how I had to fix the name on the room. I said I wanted to waitlist the studio for a 1 BR. She looks at her screen and says, 'Well, there's plenty of 1 BRs available." She asked me if I had thought about a 2 bedroom lockoff. I said that was what I wanted, but the person I spoke to this morning told me none were available. Trixie said, "Let me look... well, I have one now!" Three minutes later, all of my ducks were in a row and my reservations were set.
I chatted with Trixie a bit and she told me that Southwest would most likely open up the booking for the days I needed this coming week...and that she was celebrating her 40th Anniversary this weekend (Congrats! My longest anniversary was less than 40 days, but that's something my therapist will work on someday.)
So here we are - I have seven months to plan out my trip - where should we eat, what should we do. But all I know is I am going to Disney and staying exactly where I wanted to and (as they say on Duck Dynasty) I am 'happy, happy, happy."
I'll introduce you to the band a bit later in the show.....
