Disney Cruise with LO

So, me and me and my boyfriend will be going on a cruise, the ship is called the Disney Dream and we'll be going for a week and will be bringing our 3 and a half yr old DD with us. I was planning to take her swimming with us and drop her off at the Oceaneer Club when me at my boyfriend wanted to do adult things together; so I decided to call the cruise line a couple of days ago to find out what activities were available to do at that age over there. The lady over the phone asked me if she was potty trained and she's not so I told her she wasn't; apparently that limits what she can do. She explained to me that our DD couldn't go to the Oceaneer's Club or go swimming because of that reason however there were other things she could do. She told us she could run around in the splash pad but, only if she had a swim diaper on. I asked a little bit about where we could drop her off so that me and my boyfriend could get some alone time and, she told me that she's only allowed to go to the Small World Nursery if she isn't potty trained. I was really hoping she could join the older kids so now, I'm a bit upset to know that she can't do what we though she could. :( I'm not sure what to do here, we've already payed for the tickets. I was thinking that if I left off the swim diapers and too her into the pool they wouldn't notice but, what would happen if she had a potty accident in the pool? Any other moms with advice? What about WDW and their pools?

The same rules apply at WDW pools....children who aren't potty trained must wear swim diapers. You'll all have a fine time on the cruise though. Plenty of kids go who aren't potty trained. But yes, that does limit which kids activities she can participate in.

If your little one has an accident in the pool they need to shut it down. There will be a lot of PO'd people while they clean the pool. Because of cleanliness factors, it is just better that you follow the rules and play in the splash pad. Your daughter will be fine in The Small World Nursery. To my knowledge, swim diapers are ok in WDW pools.

Travel agents just got a reminder of this very recently too:

"REMINDER: DISNEY CRUSE LINE AGE REQUIREMENT FOR DISNEY’S OCEANEER’S CLUB

As a reminder, all children must be 3 years of age or older and potty-trained (able to use the restroom independently) in order to participate in Disney’s Oceaneer’s Club onboard Disney Cruise Line ships.

Children 3 years of age who are not fully potty trained and children under the age of 3 may visit Flounders Reef Nursery onboard the Disney Wonder or “it’s a small world” nursery onboard the Disney Magic, Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy.

Please remind your Clients of this policy when they are planning a Disney Cruise Line vacation."

Question? Are you doing a back to back on the Dream or do you have the wrong ship? As far as I know the Dream has only been doing 3 and 4 day Bahama cruise for a considerable time unless they are changing the Dream itinerary. If you are doing a 3 or 4 day cruise and then visiting the park I misread your post.

Please do not take her in a pool without a swim diaper. We have seen them drain the kids pool too many times (think Caddy Shack) while on the Magic because someone's child had an "accident" and wasn't wearing "protection". Hard to calculate how many other cruisers had their trip disrupted.

Absolutely. If a child isn't 100% potty trained, they should avoid the pools or wear swim diapers.
