Disney Cruise Solo

That's a really hard question to answer. You're going to have to pay more than the normal per-person rate because there will definitely be a single supplement and it might even be the full double-occupancy rate. If you're just asking if it will still be a fun experience without sharing it with kids or family, then the answer is definitely yes. You'll still have a great experience, and you might make some new friends at dinner.

But it's definitely going to cost you more than the normal rate, which is already more than other cruise lines. So whether it's worth it financially will be a very personal question.

I appreciate the thoughtful answer. Beyond the finances, is this something for a solo person? Look, I get there are things for kids to do just as there are at WDW. Everyone agrees that an adult can have just an enjoyable vacation at WDW as children because there are plenty of things for adults to choose from. I'm wondering if the thing is true for a Disney cruise.

I have already done my part by choosing a stateroom one deck below the adult private pool and fitness center, for example. I noticed there is a deck with five or so private lounges for adults only.

Worth it is a very subjective question. For me, no, not worth it at all. For me, at least, a solo cruise is not worth it on any large ocean line. Something smaller and more specialized, then maybe - Viking, Blount, etc. But I myself would not find a solo trip on a large ocean line worth it. Fun? definitely. Worth the solo traveler premium cost - no.

I could amuse myself with no issue, however I would much rather share the experience with somebody. I have been to WDW numerous times by myself, and that is a bit different in my opinion. Something about the events on a ship lends themselves to multiple people.

I’ve never done a solo cruise but I’ve done the parks solo many times and always had a blast, I think a solo cruise sounds incredibly fun BUT.. since the rate is essentially the same whether it’s 1 or 2 people in the stateroom I think it makes more sense to invite a random friend to join you, even for free. Thats how my gf and I got into cruising, a single gf of hers booked a Disney cruise and then decided she’d be lonely so she invited my gf to join her (for free), my Gf slept on the couch bed but had an amazing time and now we’re cruisers.

The only downside of this is you will be spending a ton of time together, make sure it’s a friend that won’t drive you crazy.

I love doing a lot of things solo, even being married, but a cruise is something I don't think I'd enjoy solo. When my family and I went to Alaska, we were always doing something together. The only times we split off was in ports (I sought out breweries and they shopped, for example).

Just for full disclosure, those lounges are adults-only after 9pm. During the day, they're open to everyone.
to add to this… there are quite a few 18+ areas on the ship even during the day but one of the things that is always surprising to us is how unnoticeable kids are onboard, the main pool deck can be a bit loud but other than that it’s generally pretty quiet. We go without kids and the only time kids are noticeable to us is at dinner and the all ages pool (and there’s an adults pool to avoid that if you want), we’ve done 3 Disney cruises now and we haven’t had any issues at all with loud or obnoxious kids.
