Have fun, and please give us a trip report when you return. I would like to hear some experiences on the cruise line.

I'm new to this site, but I'm a long time disney addict... and I've been on the disney cruise twice. Both times were on the Disney Magic... and both times were wonderful.

Kids, if you have any, will have a blast! There is a whole floor devoted to them with dress-up costumes, computers, there's even a sleepover one nite. But don't worry if you are traveling without children because there's still a lot to do.

The best thing, in my opinion, about the cruise is disney's private island. It reminded me a lot of typhoon lagoon because it has that same hurricane disaster look to it.

The restaurants are a delight. Of course, in true disney style, they're all themed. There was Lumiere's (the formal restaurant), Parrot's Cove (a caribbean- themed restaurant), and the Animator's Palette. This last restaurant is the most innovative. When you walk first walk in, the walls are covered with black and white pictures of all your favorite disney characters. Then with each course of the meal, the picturtes slowly become colored. By the time dessert comes, they are complete.

But my last recommedation is to make sure that you visit Paolo's restaurant. You won't be able to go with the kids, and it cost $5 a person to eat there, but the food is definitely worth it.

I only Cruise with Princess and Royal Carb... but the last time I was in Nassau(Nov. 2000, before they stopped allowing visitors), one of the crew members gave me a guided tour of the ship while it was in port... VERY Cool :-) Kids would LOVE it, but I perfer a cruise slightly away from the swarms of kids, sothat is my reason not to cruise with them (I just Visit WDW whenever I leave from Ft. Lauderdale or Miami Anyways)

I´ve been on the Magic once and loved it! I was just recovering from a bronchitis, so it was a relaxing trip for me. Our room was on the 7th floor (of 9) and we had a balcony that we totally loved! There was a full moon one night and we just sat there looking at the silver sea! Beautiful!

I loved the food! Don´t miss the midnight dessert buffet! hehehe :slurp:

Every dish in every one of the restaurants was worth a picture! I highly recommend taking the Cruise! The boat is huge and very elegant and the theater in there is amazing!

DW and I went on the 4-day cruise for our 2nd anniversary this past November. It was wonderful. I was a bit worried about being surrounded by kids all the time, but this was not a problem. It really is a great place for adults to go on vacation, even adults without kids.

Pictures are here.

Go to Palo's (probably killed the spelling), it is so worth the $5 each. The food was incredible. Heck, go to Palo's multiple times. :slurp:

If you drink, try the Island Navigator. Mmmmm

We were going to do the 7-day Western Carribean cruise for our 3rd year anniversary, but we're going to have a baby instead. :D

That's funny. I looked back on all the pics I took (not just the ones posted) and there are very few pic with people. I know I tend to avoid pictures with people in them, but I didn't realize how much I do..... Very funny.

disney cruise

I have been on the DisneyMagic twice......if I can be of any help Iwill try to answer any questions you have... I went on the 4 day to the bahamas.. and the 7 day to the carribean.... It is expensive as far as cruises go..........but it is awsome!!!!!!.....I had never been on a cruise before.........We made sure to get a cabin with a balcony .......it was perfect.. the cabins are decent size .. larger than most ships......the people, food,, etc... I was afraid I would get bored .. but no way......there is so much to do . the excursions were fun... food was great.... I prefer a more casual vacation.. and from what I saw you dont have to get as dressed up for the most part as some cruises.....but there were plenty of opportunities to dress up if you choose to.....the ship is absolutly beautiful......and the crew fantastic..!!

When did you go?

Ooops, missed this. We were there from Sunday, November 11th, to Thursday, the 15th. That Tuesday, the 13th, was our anniversary and we spent it on Castaway Cay.

And thanks for the pics.

You're welcome. I love taking and sharing pics. :)

We did a 4-day cruise on the Disney Magic for our honeymoon in December 1998. I STRONGLY recommend doing the Dolphin swim on Blue Lagoon Island (http://dolphinswims.com/) -- they offer a shuttle from Nassau to the island as part of your program. It was the best part of our trip! We did the Swim-with-the dolphins program and I was just blown away by the time we spend with them -- the foot push was awesome!

HOWEVER, I do recommend setting this up on your own and not doing it as part of your cruise. Assuming everything is still the same as when we went, we didn't know Disney offered an excursion to Dolphin Encounters. We set it up ourselves because it was a lifelong dream of mine. Our program started around 1 or 2 p.m. -- can't exactly remember. But as we were leaving our program 2 hours later, the Disney cruiseline people were just coming in for their program. We got back to the boat and had about two hours to relax, shower and change for dinner and do a little shopping. Several people who did the Dolphin Encounter with Disney showed up at dinner still in bathing suits and cover-ups because they didn't have time to change by the time they got back to the boat.

we did the dolphin encounter too........ and it was the best part of my trip....we did it through the cruise in combination with the blue lagoon trip we did it first thing in the moring a. then spent the rest of the day at blue lagoon....... we ment to tke the earkly shuttle back to the ship so we could spend some time in nassua. however we fell asleep in a hamock ( not too tough to take!!) and took the later shuttle back.... I dont know if it was just us.. but Nassua was scary after 5 pm... we decided to get back to the ship fast!!!.......

I'm glad to hear they offer an early dolphin encounter now. We adored Blue Lagoon Island and actually thought that while the Atlantis Resort on Nassau was beautiful, the rest of the island was actually a little scary even during the day.

Blue Lagoon

DW and I did the Blue Lagoon thing when we were on Nassau. :fork: What a total and complete dump we thought it was. We were totally disappointed. In their defense, a week before, a hurricane came though and the ocean-side beach was closed, so only the "lagoon" was open. I think "lagoon" in Bahamainian means "drainage ditch." It was shallow (only about knee to mid-thigh deep) and reeked of sulpher. There were also way too many people there for the limited amount of space available along the drain^H^H^H^Hlagoon. The hammocks were disgusting, blackened with sunscreen, sweat, and who-knows-whatever-else. Finally, the food you get as part of the package was a joke. All I remembered was week-old hotdogs and shoe leather called "chicken." :fork:

I'm know I'm being harsh, but we were terribly disappointed with BL. This was the first stop on our first cruise and our first time in the Carribiean. Maybe our expectations were too high. Maybe, under normal circumstances, the place is much nicer. Maybe it was just over-hyped. From our experience though, it felt very sub-Disney quality. It was at this point where I seriously doubted whether taking a cruise was a good idea. Luckily, we went to Castaway Cay the next day. It turned out to be everything we were hoping that Nassau and BL would be (and more).

Overall, I loved the DC and would do it again, (we were planning on the 1 week Western Carribiean cruise for this November before we got pregnant (baby's due two days before the cruise was supposed to embark)) but if we ever do, we'll have to seriouly rethink what to do in Nassau.

wow that is too bad about blue lagoon ........we were there in jan 2000...........and it was nice .. clean .. and the food was barbacue (spelling ah) but good.........after doing the dolphine thing it was nice to just relax for a while swim a little ( it was about chest deep at the deapest .. but clean......I hope the run down conditions you encountered were due to the storm .. and nothing permanent it would be a shame ...if we ever get back there , to see it run down and dirty.....
