Disney Cruise Line Takes Top Bahamian Award

Bahamas (Disney Cruise Line) -- Disney Cruise Line was awarded the 2003 Cacique Award in the International Cruise Category for its contribution to the Bahamian Community.
The purpose of the Cacique Awards is to recognize the roles played by individuals and organizations whose performance or products have consistently made a positive impact on the quality and the growth of tourism in the Bahamas.
In 2003, Disney Cruise Line donated six computers equipped with CD ROM and full color monitors along with more than 900 books and school supplies to Centerville Primary School in Nassau as part of the Reading Together Program. On a monthly basis, Crew Members from the Disney Wonder visit the school and read to the second and third grade classes. Disney Cruise Line community efforts have also extended to the Abacos, where it has been very involved spearheading several community projects.
"We are proud of Disney's contribution to the community and we look forward to a closer working relationship with them this year," said Juanita Carey, Director of Festival Place and Cruise. Director of Quality Assurance, Ben Newlin and shipboard officer, Jimmy Lynette accepted the award on behalf of the Company at an awards ceremony held on January 30, 2004.
