Disney Credit Card

I was wondering why Disney allows such non Disney Personnel to operate their "official" Disney Credit Card. I had a run in with one of the rudest Customer Service Operators ever.

I have had my Disney Credit Card longer than any other card I carry... about 9 years now. Any way I have used the card to death, always kept it paid up and always on time. So you would think I could get an increase every rare once in a while. I'm doing an economy (value resort) trip in May and wanted to just charge it all at once and pay it back with my Tax Return. I only have a small $1000 account after 9 years, so a small increase of $500 or $600 alt not be anything right. Well the lady acted like I was nuts for even requesting that kind of money. Now I'm no genius, but when Sears gives me a $3,500 limit, and Penney's a $3,000 limit and I rarely use their cards, what's the deal? I would not have been so upset if the representative had been kind, helpful, or understanding (one of those would have been fine). This really makes Disney look bad... I know they aren't Disney, but with the name labeled to the Georgia Bank, when they upset me it makes me want to cancel my card with them... nine years and nothing.

I had to vent somewhere. Thanks. I hope the Visa Card is way better than the Disney Card I always thought I wanted, but am finally finding out was not at the quality of Disney really at all. :(

That's terrible! I'm only 19 and have a PLATINUM card that has like a limit up in the thousands! I hope this isn't Bank One that is coming out with the new card. I was going to apply for that thing. Maybe if it has such a small limit though, it'll be better for me so my bills don't get totally out of hand. Sorry Spidey!

Feel free to vent anytime!! :D

Thats because your 19 the same thing happens to me all the time.
At 20 I have no solid income and the companies are offering 50,000 in hopes that I get into debt and have to seel my self to them. So spider-man if you want more credit limit quit your Job and become reckless with your card.

try 'threatening' them and see what happens. Say you'll close your card/account if you don't get changes. I've heard that it works some times.

Put your request in writing and tell them the limit that you require, and the reasons why you want the increase. Secondly, point out how long you've had the card, loyal customer etc, etc. Finally, tell them that you wish to be notified (with reasons) should your request be declined. (Then its time to find another credit card company)

Hey SPIDEY!!!

I MAY be able to offer some assistance to you with regard to the Credit Card Company you spoke with.

My first suggestion, as painful as it sounds right now, is to call the number back and ask for a supervisor or manager.
Explain the poor quality of the call you just had (hopefully you got their name) and explain the desired increase to them.

You SHOULD get satisfaction from the site manager.

(THIS FOLLOWING IS NOT AN EXCUSE -- JUST AN EXPLANATION LEARNED FROM PAST EXPERIENCES........)

Even though the name of the Bank says Monogram Credit Card Bank of Georgia, your call may have been taken by a call center in Arizona, Mexico, or even India!!!! People at the call center are provided scripted responses to give and sometimes you just don't get the right person at the right time.

The same company that runs the Disney Card program also runs MANY other major retailer accounts (including JC Penneys) so they would not appreciate the service you were given either.

Let me know how you make out on your return call, then PM me if I can be of any further help! A second call to the manager SHOULD yield a favorable result!

Sorry you had to deal with that!

Well, it happened three weeks ago, I think the thread was bumped up on accident, BUT... I have already charged my room to my Sony Visa, and we have already decided to drop the Disney Card (and propably the Sony Visa) to go to the new Disney Visa card. So at this point, even if I get what I was after, it will no longer matter. But I appreciate everyone's input and think I will get much better results and credit limit from the new Disney Visa Card. :D

It's something to do with that particular bank. I got the Disney Card thinking it would be useful for my trips to WDW, but there doesn't seem to be any real advantage to it.

Also, when I got my first statement and saw what bank it was (HRS I think) I decided to pay it off and not use it anymore. Actually, now that this Disney Visa lets you earn points towards Disney stuff, I'll probably drop it.

I agree with you, tho. While Disney can't be responsible for the behaviour of the bank, they could've chosen a better bank to put their name on.

Also, just to echo some of the comments from earlier, if you pay off an account and attempt to close it, you get all kinds of offers to try to get you to keep it, from reduced interest rates to no annual fees. I paid off three in the last couple of months and they were all desperate for me to keep them open.

Be very careful with credit cards. If you have one (or more) and even if you NEVER use them, it is considered a liability by any bank or lending institution. If you have a credit limit of $5,000 on a card (even if you have never used it) you are assumed to be in debt by $5,000! This can really cause a problem when you apply for a loan for a car, boat, house, etc. Even if you have always paid all your bills on time, your credit record might show you as a deadbeat.
