Arent Poltical Discussions banned form this board? Anyhow, here's just an explanation; i am not taking a position on this issue one way or another.

Er.... .First, that link is a list of companies that donated in the 2000 election, not this current one. No need to blow this out of proportion. [EDIT - After a search on the FEC page, i cannot verify this claim of a donation]

Second, its very common for major companies to donate money to political parties, usually both. Usually companies are 'encouraged' to donate, hense some sort of law restricting their trade or something like that would be passes. Its how Washington works.

Lastly, if you do a search on the filings with the FEC for the Gore campaign, you'll probably see a similar donation.

FEC Search Page Type 'Walt Disney' in the last name and you'll see that the Walt Disney Co has given over 1.8 million dollars in soft money to both republican and democratic campaigns since 1997. Mainly Democratic PAC's.

I may be on dodgy ground, its not really the politcs behind the donations, or whether your a Gore or Bush person. I was just suprised thats all. Surly these are seen as bribes and there are huge conflicts of interest.

As a hyperthetical example. I guess if Bush planned to introduce a "theme park tax" it would be wise for Disney to sweetened Bush up with a donation to make him think twice.

Like i said, check the FEC page link. I cant verify that this contribution actually happened. DJ i'm not questioning you, rather i'm questioning the page you got it from - They're from Belgium after all and haventg given both sides of the story.

Based on the FEC data, it appears that they give more money to democrats then republicans, or is roughly split down the middle.

IMO, the MotherEarth.org page is just out corporate bashing. Ive seen this type of politicing from IMF/WTO protests in DC; they're just putting forth one fact out of context in an attempt to bandwagon on with the rather rampent love/hate of Bush. The truth of the matter is the Walt Disney Company gives money to both sides of the aisle.

I think Disney's supporting Bush because they want to see if one of their own animatronics can run the country( The real Bush is nailed to the floor at Hall of Presidents)
