Disney confirm reservation information for new Be Our Guest Restaurant

It was probably a smart move to make day 1 reservations by phone only. I can't imagine the load the site would've been under otherwise. Still, I'm willing to bet that August 20th will be one of the absolute busiest days that WDW-DINE has ever seen. :)

Probably a stupid question, but you won't need reservation for the quick-serve lunch, will you?
Based only on this statement I'd say no:
Lunch is quick and casual, with guest-activated terminals that make ordering a snap (there also will be traditional cashiers for cash orders and special dietary requests). You order, take a seat and lunch is delivered to your table – on china, not paper.

According to the Disney Blog, reservations will be taken for dinner starting August 20th by phone only-407-wdw-dine. The first night of dinner will be November 19th. You can make online reservations beginning August 22. Figures, I leave th world on nov.18th.

I am going to be one of the first to start overloading the phone line. Who is with me?
I'm blocking off my time to sit on hold as well...

I extended my lunch hour on Monday just in anticipation of the hold time. I warned my coworkers that they're going to probably see me crying no matter what. Crazy, but I'm going to have to have two phones going just in case I have to take an emergency call on my my main phone.

Fingers crossed that we all get what we want! :)

Just in case others haven't experienced these types of scheduled releases, I've found that getting connected is the hardest part of the process. I've experienced this booking Candlelight Processional and Food & Wine events in the past, and I'm guessing this will put a comparable (if not more) strain on the system. I think I spent 30-45 minutes just trying to connect to the dining line to book CP last year. Make sure you know where your redial button is :) It also seems that when you're most anxious about the wait and not getting disconnected, the hold music won't be playing. If you hear silence after you've gone through the menus, you're most likely fine.

This right here is what I'm fearing most...being able to get through and then the long hold. I've heard a lot of people talking about trying to call in just ahead of noon to get into the wait queue sooner. Not sure if I should try this as well or just try and get as close to "Disney noon" as humanly possible.

We'll be calling on 3, maybe 4 phones at noon Monday. I'm in meetings all day, so if my lunch break isn't at noon, I'll be making an extended bathroom break!

I will be one of many calling on Monday. What strikes me is that they decide to open it up on a Monday, and even more odd at noon. How will they handle the logistics of holding people off until noon. It seems to me the best idea for them would be to create a special number to call just for BOG and that line would open at noon. Not sure how it will work but I am sure there will be overload and all the issues that come with that.

I think dining line is going to spend 5 hours on Monday saying "Reservations don't open until noon..." If I were rolling this out, I'd pay my voice over artist to record a spiel for when the line first picks up.

When I first saw the release time, I wondered if they're throwing a bone to people who don't live in the Eastern time zone.

Are you going to have to have a trip booked in order to make an ADR or do you think you'll be able to make an ADR without it? We are only 50% sure we know what dates we're aiming for in 2013 but I'd love to get it done before the entire year is booked.

If your trip/the date you're considering is before February 16, 2013, you should have no problems booking without a reservation on Monday. Any dates after that you'd have to wait until the 180 day mark.
