disney college program questions!

i'm thinking of applying for fall 2011 or spring 2012. i'll be taking a year off from my undergraduate studies to study abroad and to, hopefully, be on the disney college program. i have a few questions:

1. do i have to have a roommate? i saw that rooms are for two people only and didn't see anything about singles. can i pay twice the rent for a room to myself?

2. if my final job offer is something i don't want and i decide to decline the offer, will this hinder any future application to the program?

3. for program alumni - what were the benefits of doing the program if you applied to professional (law, medical, dental) school? did it help you stand out?

4. besides available classes, what could a pre-health student do while on the program to stay active in their pursuit of medical or dental school? would there be any help finding volunteer programs or anything?

thanks in advance and sorry if i posted this in the wrong area - i'm new to this whole forum thing :) have a magical day!

1. If you live in the Disney housing, you have to have a roommate. It is possible to get an apartment on your own & not have a roommate, but many CPs only make minimum wage.

2. They say that you should only apply for the roles that you would be willing to do. You can turn down the offer they make you & it won't affect your future applications.

3. I did the program August 2008-May 2009 in costuming, working at some of the shows & parades. I was originally an engineering major, but changed it to theatre & costume design when I returned to school. When I was looking for a work study job on campus, I talked to the theatre department & found out I could work in the costume shop, sewing the costumes for the school plays. I have since changed my major yet again to hotel management, but saying I worked in costuming definitely impressed the person in charge of the costume shop.

4. CP Events sets up a chance to go to the Give Kids the World Village every Sunday & Wednesday. If you don't know, that where many of the kids on Make a Wish trips stay. I never had the chance to go, but from what I've heard, the parents get a night out to go to dinner or something & the volunteers stay & play games & stuff with the kids. Every one I know who did it seemed to enjoy it. That's probably the closest thing to the medical field easily accessible to CPs. With the irregular schedule CPs get, its kinda hard to volunteer at a hospital or something if they want a regular schedule that you're available.

I hope that helps & good luck with applying!
