Disney College Program & married folk?

I saw a flyer at my college yesterday for a seminar on the Disney College Program - something I've always wanted to do. However, I am in a rather different situation. By the time I could go, I will be married.

At the time I would be able to go, my fiance will be attending a school for Merchant Marines in order to obtain his third mate's license. He will be gone for 6-9 months and I will not be able to join him, though we will be able to see each other whenever one or the other can visit. I will still be in school during this time. The current plan is for me to stay with my family during this time to save money for a downpayment on a house (and vacation, of course). But we have a lot of stuff that neither of us would be able to use and will be putting in storage. We also have two dogs, but I could probably convince my parents to keep them.

Regardless, I don't think that I would be able to go back to living in a room with another person who is not my future husband. Not to mention, according to their website, no overnight visitors are allowed and that simply will not do. I would probably have to get an apartment. Obviously, my situation is not ideal for this program, but I feel like if I'm ever going to get to do it, then this is it.

First question: Are married folk allowed to do the College Program?
Second question: What is the pay associated with this program? I have not been able to find much information.

Third question: Any other info or advice?

Thanks!! :D

I spent an evening with a girl in the cp. They make next to nothing. I think most of them do it either because they're big disney fans or they want to party in Florida...mostly the latter, I think.

I was surprised to find out how little of Orlando she had seen, other than Disney and Uni.

They are surely not doing it because they need money. There are much better jobs.

I wouldn't necessarily be doing it for the money either. You are still in school while in this program, correct? If so, I get paid through my GI bill! Anyway, just trying to get all the info! :)

of course there are a large number of married cps! Yes, there are no overnight guests allowed. if you want, i would go full time and get an apartment. you can still go to school, get better hours, and get better pay.

The pay is definitely not the reason someone does the DCP. Shifts vary completely for CP's because we are the bottom of the totem pole. If you were to do an online class, I would say that might be manageable. Disney requires you to have full availability while participating in the DCP, though.

I had just gotten married when I did my CP and we even lived in our own apartments (though I think Disney offers married CP housing). There are no restrictions about being married. (Though on a personal note, I'd find it hard to be someone without their S/O living in the party that is Vista Way).

A colleagues son did the program and loved it. He networked and really got his foot in the Disney door. Next week he leaves for a sound engineer job on the DCL.
He wasn't there to party. His family are obviously Disney lovers and he has always wanted a career with Disney.

The pay for someone else I know starting this January is $8.50 an hour. She will be with the Concierge program. They work full time and take classes. To pay for their room, Disney automatically deducts around $100 a week out of their pay.

I think it is a great program with lots of opportunities for the future. i wish I had done it when I was a college student.

Good luck.
