Bloody Haitian Military Leader Was Driving Disney Boats
Former Head Of Haiti Military To Be Deported

ORLANDO, Fla. -- A former Haitian military leader -- who worked as a tourist boat driver at Disney World -- is now facing deportation.

Jean-Claude Duperval was taken into custody Wednesday in Orange County. He's expected to be shipped back to Port-au-Prince in the next few days.

The tourists who rode the Disney boats had no idea Duperval used to be in charge of Haiti's military forces. He took the job while trying to dodge arrest at home for mass murder.

Duperval was sentenced him in absentia in 2000 to life in prison for the killing of political protesters. Dozens of people were gunned down in the spring of 1994 when army soldiers and paramilitaries surrounded the coastal town of Raboteau to crush support for a democracy movement.

Duperval came to the United States in late 1995 and asked for political asylum. He started working as an hourly employee at Disney in 1997, but lost the job in 2002 when the company learned he was an international fugitive.

From WKMG:

ORLANDO, Fla -- A former Haitian military officer linked to human rights violations in his homeland was arrested Wednesday and will be deported, federal officials said Wednesday.

Maj. Gen. Jean-Claude Duperval has been connected to the April 1994 massacre in the Haitian beach-front community of Raboteau.

In the raid, soldiers and paramilitary personnel burst into dozens of homes, beating and arresting people. Those who fled to the sea were shot. No one knows how many people were killed because soldiers prevented the victims' families from retrieving bodies.

Duperval entered the United States in 1995 as a visitor, lived in Orlando and worked for Walt Disney World's watercraft department until 2002.

The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency said Wednesday that Duperval has exhausted all legal avenues for relief and will be removed from the country.

Formerly second-in-command in Haiti, Duperval was one of the leaders of the 1991 coup that overthrew Haitian President Jean Bertrand-Aristide. When Aristide returned to power in 1994, Duperval briefly served as interim army commander until he was replaced and transferred to a diplomatic post in Brazil.

Duperval is the fifth person arrested by immigration agents in Florida with links to the Raboteau massacre. Three others have been removed from the United States. Immigration officials said the fourth is being detained and will be removed.

Nice to know how safe Disney keeps its parks. And if safety is #1, I wonder how "show," "courtesy," and "efficiency" are going. Background checks? Right.

Fire the long-term Cast Members, bring in the killers! It's cheap, right???

like I said in another post... If Disney were to invest a mere $750k (for Disney, that's cheap) to do background checks on its WDW CM's, they would be better off..

but they won't
