Disney Closing Toontown Online, PoTC Online and Fairies Pixie Hollow

Disney has posted an announcement saying it is closing on September 19, 2013. 'At this time, we are shifting our development focus towards other online and mobile play experiences,' Disney writes on Toontown's FAQ page.

Two other games, Pirates of the Caribbean Online and Disney Fairies Pixie Hollow, are also closing. Disney will likely place greater emphasis on a game called Club Penguin, according to a Bloomberg article.

Wow! I didn't even realize that Toontown was still around. I remember when they always used to advertise it.

I thought they had already closed Toontown! This is interesting...they advertise Pixie Hallow a lot on Disney Channel, but you rarely see Pirates or Toontown anymore! I remember playing Toontown religiously

I feel bad for anyone playing those games because I remember what happened when VMK closed. I lost all my friends on their since there is no way to share emails or any form of communication with others. Disney isn't very good with closing games. In good new though, Open VMK has announced an opening date of September 6! Can't wait to try it out!

VMK closing was the worst! I played that game religiously! It was really bad because, like you, I had many friends on that game and I had no way of contacting them after it shut down. Beyond excited for Open VMK though!

Ah! This makes me so happy! I remember being crushed when vmk closed!
