Disney [Call Center] Job Interview

All,

I have a job interview with the Disney call center in Orlando next week. It's for the "407-W-Disney" inbound call center (reservations).

When I setup the interview, the casting agent I spoke with (Dave?--the voice on the job line--one in the same) said that my qualifications (which are rather extensive in the arena of call center work--mainly training and management) might warrant me starting at a higher position. There's no way that I can live off a starting wage of around $8/hr, but who knows what an advanced position might look like?

Here's the question: Does anyone out there have any advice for interviewing with Disney? Anyway that this interview might land me something more lucrative in at WDW or the call center?

Any advice or information you might provide would be appreciated. Feel free to PM me or email me at tahoe98@yahoo.com.

Thanks again.

Getting "advanced" positions within the company is no small feat. If you can do it great. My advice? Be positive and exude that "pixie dust" mentality you see when you go into the parks.

Smile a lot. Even though you won't be face-to-face with your guests a smile comes through over the phone. Keywords: Exceed Guest Expecations. That is Disney's mantra. Find a way to slip that into the interview without seeming too obvious.

You can tell the interviewer that you will make every effort to answer all questions a guest has and go above and beyond by recommending something the guest may not be aware of like, "Oh, and if you get a chance try to make reservations at _____________. I highly recommend it."

Okay, I have zero knowledge in this particular area so :p consider the source...

I'm guessing they'd be looking for smiling, pleasant, easy-going people... like every other employer for every other job... everywhere. In any job interview, if you can show enthusiasm while showing you are easy-going and comfortable (no small feat!) you're half-way there.

I would also think that --- while they want people to have Disney knowledge and to be helpful --- they would also need you to help people reach a decision with some confidence in a reasonable period of time. So if (unlike myself) you can get to the point of any story clearly, that's fast, effective communications. Your guests can get back to their busy days... and begin dreaming of that vacation to come... and you can sign off with a warm farewell and go on to the next guest.

And do you like working with computer software; do you learn it quickly and type like a maniac? That would probably be useful.

Are you ok with working indoors, in one place... or do you need a job where you get out and constantly change scenery? Is the job right for your personality?

I hope it's right for you and you get that +$ opportunity! Best of luck!
