Disney being bought...

The appeared in the local newspaper today but is not online anywhere that I can find so:

COULD DISNEY BE BOUGHT? Shares of Walt Disney – down 40 on the year – are plummeting faster than riders on the Magic Kingdom’s Splash Mountain ride. The freefall's raising the unheard-of idea that Disney could become a takeover target. More than half the company's revenue depends on travel and tourism, retail and advertising – all hurting after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Thursday, Moody's cut Disney's credit and debt ratings, while Prudential Securities cut Disney's 2002 earnings estimate to 59 cents from 83 cents.

It was in the sidebar in the business section and was not attributed to any author that I could find...
Sort of a scarry thought, isn't it?

1984 all over again?

I saw an article concerning this on quote.yahoo.com under the ticker symbol DIS. It was a fairly decent piece looking at it from a logical standpoint. No one who was the money to do this is financially able to take the hit at this time. Those that do have the ability to do so run into FCC barriers due to the owned station issues.

All said it is possible that someone might buyout a 51% stake in Disney but not very likely. The wife and I are considering opening an account and buying a small number of shares. It is at its 7 year low so now seems as good a time as any. Plus we might get a small piece of our vacation back in dividens. Okay miniscule but it helps.

not woried

disney has been in worse shape in 1984 and was alot weaker then and still wasnt bought out.monsters inc will be as good or better than lion king a lot of hollywood execs say not just from disney but form all different companies.that alone will rebound disney-even with the slow start of 100 year cele. at wdw that too in december when major marketing promos come out that will also help compnay rebound-never loose sleep over what the media says-yes disney is technically doing not a sgood as it should -but so are all the media companies too.now disney is a major reporters dream-one small story that some analyst blows out of proportion becomes meat for the sharks and then 30 reporters want a piece of the action and add things to story so its juicier for thir paper or station-next thing u know disney has been bought out last year by taco bell corp. and 5 new parks will be made this year all called chalupa land and the new compnay mascot is the dog- dont sweat what u hear untill disney gives an official press release:hammer:
