Disney Animation Studio...Idea

Well for the first time in my life I went over to MGM to see the "Art of Disney Animation" tour, since you know all the great stuff is gone. Anyways it was real quiet and kind of dull since the losing of the animators. Anyways I kind of came up with an idea by myself.

Well since there's no point to the tour now. I say get rid of it. But not to put some ride in there, but another tour could take place in there. "The Art of Disney Imagineering". It would be just like the Art of Animation, but it would show Disney guests, how they plan, and organize some of Disney's rides. Kind of like the place in California...I asked a CM, where the Imagineers worked he said backstage in portables...now that's pretty lame if you ask me. In my opinion the Imagineering Department of WDW need offices and space for themselves. And also it would let the guests see a little backstage magic. What do you guys think?

What about a dark ride for something like this? A nice relaxing ride to take you through eras of Disney animation? Black and White... Fantasia... Snow White... but it would be a learning experience about the animation stuff. With some cool special effects, it might be worth it. Just my two-bits.

I agree that a dark ride of this nature could be very well done and not completely take away from the original purpose of the space. Something that may also work is a ride that uses a similar system to IOA's Spider-Man ride: Riders could wear 3-D glasses throughout and then movies of famous disney rides could "pop" out at appropriate times. Or even, a "drawing" effect could look nice in 3-D.

Another idea, though, is to add another thrill ride. I feel that MGM should just establish themselves as the thrill park of the four- I think this has already happened with RnRC and ToT being (arguably) the most thrilling attractions at WDW. Another thrill ride would just add to it.. I have to admit, some love MGM but when I think of what there is to do there, I end my list quickly. No idea what KIND of thrill ride, but something.... hmm....

I don't know about a thrill ride, but something 3D would be really cool with all the Disney animated movies. Hmmmmm....:dazzle:

An Animation ride would be really cool. The ride system could be just like the Great Movie ride. It would be slow, relaxing, and entertaining. You could go see the progress of Disney animation with no artists needed. Imagineers may blend into that well somehow. It could be like the restaurant on the Disney cruise. Instead of the restuarant changing colors, your vehicle changes to match the animation. It would be nice.......

I was thinking. Ok, the room where you would stand up above the "drawing area" and look out through the windows (you know where I'm talking about, right?). Well anyways... they could theme it to look like it's night time.. and all the workers have left.

Now from what I remember, our guide said that at night sometimes Disney himself would walk around and pick up drawings from the trash can and look at them, and if he liked them, he'd leave them a note on their desk with the picture... anyways...

They could use the same technology from the Haunted Mansion to make it look like he was there and just picked up a piece of paper. On it would be a drawing of Tinkerbell (this would be shown as a close up on overheard monitor things). Then, Tinkerbell would magically come to life and "fly" around the room leaving what looked like pixie dust behind. This would cause all the other characters to look like they came to life or something.. ok.. Im losing my thought.. lol.. anyone care to finish?

I am a big fan of the Animation tour at MGM. Why would they drop all the money into rehab, fix it all up, replace the Robin Williams animation with Mushu, add the desks to show people how to draw characters...just to shut it down? When I was there in December it was pretty much filled, and the animators had already left.

I can see why they would shut it down, but after doing all that it seems like it would be a waste of money.

I didn't say it was going to happen tomorrow. But I wouldn't give it more than another 5-6 years. It was exciting seeing the animators work on their new projects when you would go. It was nice to get a sneak peak at what was in the works. How many times are you going to watch the same animation show now? It won't have the same reusability the original had, because nothing new will happen.
