Legendary Disney artist, animator, designer and filmmaker Ward Kimball passed away this morning at the age of 88.
Kimball went to work for Disney in 1934 at the tender age of 20 and went on to help bring to life such famous cartoon characters as Jiminy Cricket, the Cheshire Cat, the drunken Bacchus in Fantasia and more. His work won Academy Awards and the admiration of generations of fans.
One of the "Mouse House" stalwarts affectionately referred to as the "Nine Old Men," Kimball also enjoyed playing the trombone and collecting antique toys and model trains.
