Disney Ambassadors

What exactly are Disney ambassadors? I know they help promote the parks around the world, but are they really relevant now? How much control do they have in the company (if any?)?

They get some level of freedom over a regular CM. They do not get any magical "control" but they can usually try out different LOBs.

They're generally for press, media events, sometimes CM celebrations, etc.
