HOLLYWOOD (Variety) -- Disney is saying "Cheers" to Kirstie Alley.
Buena Vista Prods. -- the Mouse House division that develops and produces TV projects for daytime, cable and syndication -- has ordered a pilot for a daytime talker headlined by the former "Cheers" star. If picked up, the show would likely be aimed at a fall 2003 debut in broadcast syndication.
Holly Jacobs, exec VP of programming and development for Buena Vista Prods., declined to discuss format details.
Alley has been most visible recently in a series of commercials for the Pier 1 imports stores.
In addition to "Cheers," she has starred in such TV and film projects as the former NBC series "Veronica's Closet, " the "Look Who's Talking" movies and the film "Drop Dead Gorgeous."
