Hong Kong Disneyland has stepped up marketing to lure more visitors after customer numbers during China's Golden Week holiday were lower than expected, The Standard newspaper reported, citing park Managing Director Bill Ernest. He is maintaining the park's first-year target of 5.6 million visitors and aims to expand that to 10 million, the newspaper reported, without giving a timeframe. Hong Kong Disneyland also plans to build a new attraction called Small World within two years in response to criticism the park is too small and lacks the popular attractions of other Disney parks.

Although IASW is a Disney Classic and should be experienced at least once I hardly think this will boost guest numbers! and make them want to visit the park and ride it again and again! Disney needs to add the other classics, HM, POTC, Big Thunder (in some form or another)! I just fear IASW is not the best choice as the next attraction!!

I'm assuming that they chose IASW over some of the other classics as IASW is a huge "people eater". It can handle huge crowds per hour. While POTC can do the same, I'm sure the cost for IASW is far less than that of POTC. The animatronics in IASW are far less complicated (and thereby probably much cheaper) to produce and thereby the whole attraction can be produced much faster. IASW is also a lengthy attraction that will eat up more of the guests time in the park. The attraction also speaks for itself. No need to educate the Chinese on this one.
