Disney Acquiring Marvel

Disney has agreed to acquire Marvel and it's 5,000 characters including Iron-Man, SpiderMan and the Hulk, etc.

I think this was an excellent move, considering Bob Iger had said the company needed to reach the Teenage Male demographic. I remember reading that Disney was going to start getting into the comic book market, and this is a big way to do it.

By acquiring the well known Marvel characters, Disney can give itself endless options in the aspect of rides, entertainment, movies, comic books, etc.

I wonder what effect this will have on Universal Studios considering they license these characters to appear in their parks.

All-in-all, I think Bob Iger and Disney did a very smart thing with this acquisition.

I'm not sure I like this move. I don't see the reason why it happened in the first place which makes me worry, but again I'm not sure why. I'm not a big fan of a company acquiring things to just do it.

I'm really surprised that this occured. If Disney wanted to target a different demographic than maybe this was the way...maybe it's not. The last thing I want to see when I go to Disney is Wolverine or Spider-Man walking around. If I wanna see that I'll go to the Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, CA.

This will probably raise some issues with Universals Spider-Man and Incredible Hulk rides, but I guess we'll have to wait and see with that one.

Now this is where the Disney/Marvel thread should be! Not in news and rumors for WDW... Yes it is "kind of" news for WDW, but only a fraction.

I think that this was an excellent move from Walt Disney. I guess this might improve the whole Disney film making sector. Marvel is going to have a great influence in this world and vice versa. Disney gets more target audience than before and they set, with this step, a higher target oriented goal. I think this is very intelligent and good according to the fact that Walt Disney is actually in a big crisis, or was, or still is.
