In recognition of Asian Pacific Heritage Month, Disney's Polynesian Resort and its Local Diversity Action Team will present the Asian Pacific Cultural Expo on May 29 from 11a.m. - 4 p.m.
The event will serve as a forum for both Cast Members and Guests to learn more about Asian Pacific cultures. Display tables in the atrium at the Great Ceremonial House will showcase different Asian cultures. Local Asian Pacific groups from the community will showcase their unique arts and crafts, and local dance troupes will perform with ethnic music and costumes. Also, the Disney's Polynesian Resort Culinary team has planned a demonstration featuring one to two Asian Pacific dishes, and fruit and centerpiece carving.
"The event will showcase the diverse cultures of Asian Pacific countries," said Kitty Byron, Human Resources Manager at Disney's Polynesian Resort. "It will be a very exciting day."
The May 29 schedule of events is as follows:
Exhibition of Culture in the lobby
--11 a.m.- 4 p.m.
Dance Performaces in the lobby
--11 a.m., Hawaiian
--11:30 a.m., Tahitian
--12 p.m., Chinese
--2:30 p.m., Philippines
--3:30 p.m., Vietnamese
Culinary Demo at 'Ohana (limited seating)
--12:30 p.m.- 1:30 p.m.
--2 p.m.- 2:30 p.m.
