Has anyone here ever been to seaworld's Discovery Cove across the street, where you swim with dolphins...
If so, did you like it, is it worth it ?

Thanks in Advance

I will be doing it in several weeks. I hear it's flat out awesome! The price includes all the food you want for the day and one free beer... along with the other goodies Discovery Cove offers.

I'll let you know!

Done it (2003) going back (2006)
It is expensive BUT your admission includes 7 consecutive days entry to SeaWorld - now I'm not suggesting that anyone would want to do 7 consecutive days at SeaWorld but even 2 or 3 visits makes the cost of the Discovery Cove ticket more realistic.
Entry to DC is restricted - therefore there is no overcrowding. The actual swim time with the dolphin is short but your group (about 7 or 8 people) are in the water for about 30 mins.
The buffet food is excellent.
In my opinion a relaxed day at DC is an experience to remember and is worth the money

My daughter (age 8) and I spent a day at Discovery Cove on July 31st. It was absolutely fantastic! I will definitely go back and HIGHLY recommend it!! The dolphin swim is the highlight but every other experience you have there is fabulous! The park is incredibly beautiful and lush and spotless. I really cannot recommend the place highly enough. You will LOVE it! Get there right at opening and hopefully you will get assigned an early swim and then you can spend the rest of your day relaxing, snorkeling, checking out the gorgeous aviary, lazing in the Lazy River, etc. It really is top notch! ENJOY!!

we went this time last year, and it was amazing, not only did you get the experience of swimming with dolphins, but there is so much more to do, we spent a lot of time in the stingray lagoon and in the main pool snorkelling. there were so many beautiful fish to see and the pool was so big you could spend hours in there, plus we got a free waterproof camera in our package so we have some nice pics of them too.

as there was a limit to how many people were allowed in, there were enough sun loungers for everyone with a nice view (ours was in front of the dolphin area so we could see the fun things other people were doing which got us more excited!)

the sand was the nicest beach ive been on, the lockers and drinks were free plus some free dolphin friendly sun tan lotion!

the workers there were all really friendly and the dolphin staff were always willing to answer questions, i asked a question on my dolphin swim which was unable to be answered, then later in the day i went back and asked someone else a different question, he said how if they dont know they go back to the staff room and discuss it and if they still dont know the education officer is called and the question and answer is written on a board in the office, he happened to tell me the answer to my question i asked a few hours before!

overall it was a great experience and we'll definately be going back next year!!

I just got back from my Discovery Cove experience and let me tell you, it was AWESOME!

Besides swimming with the dolphins, the other things to do there are great! We spent most of our time in the Coral Reef pool with all the tropical fish! The park gives you snorkel equipment to use and you just swim around all day! It's fun to be swimming and have a giant sting ray swim right under you!

I highly recommend the cove!

me and the wife have been twice in the last two years, and it was amazing, not just the dolphins but the whole experiance.

The lazy river is great and you pass trough a bird avory(cant spell i know).

The food was great and the staff was very helpful.

One little tip we found was if you are going as a couple or a large family ask for different swim times, you can film each other and save the $150 video

Cheers

The dolphin experience is amazing. I think it is a once in a lifetime opportunity (even though its not) but i think it should only be done once. I think it may lose its "specialness" if you do it more than once, if you know what i mean. Look back at the photos and enjoy the memories.

I couldnt take the dolphin ride because of my leg but stroking the dolphin and listening to it squeek and kissing it, just amazing creatures....

Worth every penny!!! No doubt in my mind, myself and my husband did the dolphin swim in Jan last year. It was fantastic we loved it. Like everybody else has mentioned there is so much to do there to keep you entertained. We go back in just over 2 weeks and this time we have opted for the Trainer for the day!!! I am so excited. Just a couple of words of advise. I know somebody else mentioned that they got an underwater camera in their pack, well we didn't, so just in case I would be on the safe side and grab one before you go. A lso if you can get some shoes to wear in the water that is great some of the terrain around there is quite rough and can hurt your feet, jelly shoes or some surfing shoes would do the job.
Anyway I hope you enjoy it as much as we all did!

Cameras are not allowed to be taken to the Dolphin swim

The official line is that the dolphin may swallow the camera and require surgery (unofficially its so you buy their photos :animwink: )
