I have read that if you take part in a RunDisney race that you have the opportunity to get discounted park tickets, can someone explain how this works? My wife and I are looking at buying are tickets before we get down to Disney if at all possible. Thanks!

Once you register for a race, you will get a link and code for the discounted tickets.
There is usually stipulations on the tickets. (Must be used within so many days of the event, expire so many days after the event, etc)

Not sure if I should post the info but look at your Active.com Registration Confirmation e-mail. It has the link and code.

Mine doesn't have a code, just the phone number. I remember there being a code last year because I used it. I wonder which discount is better, the race participant or the Visa discount that I just booked under?

So I just called 407-WDW-IRUN to get a price on Pop for marathon weekend, and they quoted me $2 more than the rate that is given through waltdisneyworld.com. What's up with that? The Disney Visa discount was definitely the way to go.

Here is the link on the RunDisney website for booking rooms and park tickets.

I know our park tickets are going to be $200 cheaper than if we would have bought them at regular price!
Your code would have come on the very first confirmation email from wherever you registered, we registered with active and it came in that email.

The tickets depend on the event in question. WDW sells them through WWoS using the code you should have received. Prices should be nicely discounted, but are limited to use I believe 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after the event dates (ties into the 14 day expiration and keeps you from hoarding them for non event use). As always, compare to 3rd parties just to make sure, and check the fine print. You may not be able to upgrade them to add hopper or WP&M if you didn't buy it up front, and may not be able to upgrade to an AP.
DLR sells them through a 3rd party travel agent. Prices for those at the DLR 1/2 were seriously cheaper than any other source, and also had similar stipulations, couldn't be upgraded, expired on a certain day, yadda yadda yadda.

Did the runDisney include tax/insurance/different room type? That would be my likely guess. For some reason I do vaguely recall them adding a per runner transportation charge to the packages in the past. Which was pointless, and the CM on the phone admitted it, as anyone staying at the resort could hop on the bus with no issues.

W&D park ticket discounts:

3-day $157.62 (35% discount)
3-day hopper $175.73 (41%)
4-day $192.77 (25%)
4-day hopper $210.87 (33%)

The latest military deal is a 4-day hopper for $156.

I looked at my active confirmation letter and it didn't have any discount links for the marathon. Am I missing it? We still need to purchase our tix for January since we don't have a package this time. The only thing that I saw on it was a link to RunDisney travel section with info to call them for discount packages.

Ditto on everything you just said. I thought I was just being a dummy and couldn't find the link.

Ok, so now there are others who don’t have the code also. I kept rereading my confirmation email trying to figure out where I was missing it. I registered for the race using the Disney Visa link, I wonder if that has something to do with it. Like a one coupon per visit type of thing.

I am looking for ones for the January marathon dates. Have you heard of any discount tix for that time?
I don't think they have a January discount. Last time I used the military discount at Shades. There was nothing in the confirmation e-mail. Try 407-WDW-IRUN.
