Dinner Show Help, Please?!

I am preparing to book a trip in either late September or late October. My daughters, 7 and 5, and my parents will be coming as well. This will be my girls second trip but they don't remember much from the last time as they were both fairly young. On our last go-round, we went to the Spirit of Aloha show. I have seen lots of mixed reviews here, but we really enjoyed it! My girls were enthralled with the dancing, and I remember the food being yummy. I feel like this time around, though, we should do something new.

I've been searching for reviews and videos of the other options, namely the Hoop Dee Doo Revue and Mickey's Backyard BBQ. I get the impression that a lot of people love HDD and that many people felt Mickey's BYBBQ wasn't worth it (We will be doing the dining plan, so not 'worth' the 2 TS credits)

Help me! I do believe that they would really enjoy dancing with the characters at MBYBBQ, but everyone seems to rave about HDD, even though when I read the description, it didn't SEEM like something that interesting or that my daughters would really get into (the theme of it, that is).

Perhaps I should just go back to Aloha since they don't really remember it.. but again, I"d like to try something new!

Anyone that has done these shows and could help me pick?

We've not done the Backyard BBQ, so I can't give you a comparison but my DD, 8, loves the Hoop Dee Doo. We went the first time when she was 6 and on our recent trip she insisted that we had to go back (and loved it just as much as the first time).

We've done the Backyard BBQ and the Luau. We enjoyed both. I would like to Hoop Dee Doo, but my wife does not. Maybe on this next trip!

Anyway, we enjoyed the Backyard BBQ. Food was very good and entertainment was good. My son had fun, and my wife really liked it. I thought it was ok, but actually enjoyed the Luau more.

At 7 years old son found HHD corny but really liked the hula girls at the Spirit of Aloha a year later, he also liked the belly dancer at Restaurant Marrakesh but I digress. Haven't done the backyard BBQ either so I can comment. As a suggestion how about Cirque du Soleil? It's not a dinner show but really fun to watch, book the early show then get something to eat at DTD.

Mickey's Backyard BBQ would be fun for your daughters. They get to dance and play with the characters. There is an ice cream treat cooler that they can pick what they want from it...as well as their meals. My DD love The Hoop-Dee-Do Revue when she was 8 years old!

I, personally, like both, but prefer the Hoop Dee Doo.

Your kids will probably like both, but might enjoy the BBQ more, you never know.

The Hoop is inside. It's always cold in there, but never rains. :)

A lot people will pick the Hoop because they haven't done the BBQ. The popular stuff get recommended more, so it's done more, so it gets recommended more...it's a vicious circle, which is why a place like Le Cellier is able to charge extra for food that is no better than Les Chefs or Restaurant Marrakesh.

Don't listen to us. Pick the one you'd like to try more and go with it.

We attended the barbecue back in October, not totally crazy about it. We attended the Spirit of Aloha two years before and loved it. However if your girls haven't been to a dinner show yet I would absolutely go with the Hoop De Doo!

Hoop Dee Doo was wonderful for my boys! They made a huge deal out of their birthday, and the dancers/singers interact with you even if you're sitting in the balcony.
Spirit of Aloha was nice, especially the 2nd 1/2 of the show. The 1st half is kinda "corny"/silly IMHO.
Go with Mickey's Backyard BbQ if you want character interaction.
All are good. Enjoy!:)
