Anyone decide to drive off site to eat dinner? How it work out for you time wise? We have our own car this year and thought perhaps instead of always eating in the parks we could leave for dinner then come back to the parks afterwards.

Once a trip we drive to the Trey Yeun Chinese restaurant right next to Wet n Wild/Universal but apart from that we always eat just one meal a day at Pop Century.

We at dinner off property this past trip. Cafe Tu Tu Tango on I Drive is FANTASTIC! We also ate at @siam (we are vegan and thai food gives us a LOT of choices). We also went around Point Orlando for happy hour and had small plates one night. Taverna Opa and the Pub were 2 favs :)

We hit the Applebees late one night after park close on 192 towards 27. Great meal $56 for 4 people and 2 drinks! Not a bad deal.

We often eat on US192. We take a side road at the traffic light in front of the entrance AKL to get to 192. It's a backroad that is never crowded. On US 192 there's Texas Roadhouse, Chick-Fil-A, Denny's and many others. Our favorite is Flipperz Pizzeria in the Target Shopping Center. Great pizza and wonderful breadsticks, as well as good salads for much cheaper than eating in the parks. I know Flipperz will also deliver to AKL, but I am not sure about other hotels.
That is a great Target btw! They have a large Disney Section where you can buy souvenirs much cheaper than in the park.
For us, it doesn't take much time to travel out of Disney to eat. We always drive to the parks so it's no big deal.

I don't know if this interests you, but we like to eat at the different resorts, gives us a chance to check them all out. We tried Art of Animation last weekend just to see the resort and we ate at the food court. Lots of great offerings, something for everyone, and very quick. If you're going from a park you can leave your car and take disney transport to the resort and back to the park. If you really want to go off property, stop at a Denny's or Holiday Inn type place and pickup the flyers/brochures in the lobby. You will find a billion local restaurant advertisements, maps to each, and some will have coupons.

I agree that is the best target! So close to AKL where we stayed last time. I have also heard great things about flipperz pizza next door. I have also read that they deliver on property.

We eat most of our dinners offsite. 192 has an excellent selection of restaurants as well as fast food places. We like Dennys, Golden Corral, Olive Garden as well as Steak and Shake and Pizza Hut.

We have had no problem doing this, it's just a matter of where and when you are going.
For instance one year we went to DAK for the day then around 4pm decided to head back to the hotel get ready for dinner @ 6pm which was at the Red Lobster in the Crossroads shopping center then we headed over to DHS for Fantasmic and a couple of rides. Another time we were in the MK left around 4/4:30pm went to Benihanas at the DTD hilton and then headed over to Epcot to finish the night with desert and Illuminations.

We usually eat outside of WDW. Our favorites are:

- Fogo de chao: Brazilean Steakhouse (international drive). The best SH for us, by far.
- Brick house: huge list of draft beers and snacks to watch a game or simply cool off a hot day.
- Emeril's @ Universal. Excellent fine dining.
- Red lobster (there's one @ florida mall).

Are you staying on site or off, but figure 15 mins is a perfect run on a bus or to get out to you car (longer at MK with the monorail/ferry transfer) and easily up to 30+mins. That is minimum 30-60 minutes of travel on property without including time to get to the restaurant, eat and get back. If you plan to be gone for 2.5-3 hours and that dosen't bother you - then head offsite for something other than Disney. Be sure that your whole party understands the time involved...

We always plan like 1 meal off property per 4 nights, quite often on AK day since they close early anyway.

I wouldn't leave a park to eat and then drive back. It would take so time. I'd just get a sandwich or hot dog in the park.

But if you want to leave and go back, you will find just about every chain restaurant that exists located close to the parks.
