dining reservations online?

Even people who are experienced with making the reservations on the phone have trouble from time to time. I bet an online system would be really crazy. Also it would probably frusturate the restaurants because it would be even easier for people to make constant changes.

I think in concept it is a convenient idea, but may be very difficult to pull off in practice.

I must admitt that it would be a really great idea...

How awesome would it be to select: Location (park/resort/DTD), Party Size, and Time Frame (30min blocks) and have all available options show up right on your screen?

I understand all the "flaws" such as double booking and people taking advantage of the system... but the same issues have been going for years with the phone system. No matter what Disney decides to do, people will always find a way to abuse it.

Places like CRT which usually sell out by 7:30a exactly 180 days out would not fair well with the system but maybe Disney can keep certain TS locations "phone only."

I would love to even see it as an "exclusive" offer to those who book directly with Disney or for those on the DDP.

I would absolutely love this! I would be willing to pay a refundable deposit of around $5.00 per reservation. That would discourage people from abusing the system. I had a list of restaurant that we wanted to try, and it was such a pain sitting on the phone with an operator. "Do you have any anything open for Le Cellier on Sunday?" "Please wait...no, I'm sorry. All booked up, would you like me to check another day?" "Do you have anything open for Le Cellier on Monday?" "Please wait...no, I'm sorry. All booked up, would you like me to check another day?" And it went on and on for each resturant. I could have booked all the reservations for the whole trip in 15 minutes if the had an on-line reservation search.

Off Topic: Welcome to the boards Musoplile

On Topic: Huge time saver! Make it only available to AP's for a year to test! A $5 refundable deposit is a good ideal! Then there will be less abuse!

I think it would be a really cool idea in theory, but if their on-line room reservation system is any gage for how an on-line ADR system would work, I would pass and call anyway.

yes especially resort guests. most of the guest on property pay extra and more for the benefits of being on property, so I think that if they did do this the resort guests should be the first priority. I also agree that they should do a test run with annual pass holders to see how it will work. Kind of like someone with season tickets to sporting events for a particular team whereas you get first choice of tickets for other events at that arena before they go on sale to the public. Or being in a bands fanclub.
I think that it might be a nice perk to add for resort guests.

A few thoughts..

Look how crappy Disney's website is right now. Imagine if you're trying o book dining and it crashes :( So much for Cindy's..

Second, rampant abuse, as stated.

Third - do you realize how many restaurants there are at WDW? People would be lost in the information. Most people who call the line don't know the name, are vague on the location or dont know it, and can't tell you much about it besides it has Mickey - and BTW, they think ALL restaurants have Mickey eating at the table with you.

If there was any decent way to sort things out and make it easy, i'd be all for it. But even having folks choose which park they want to dine at, a date, and their party size then choosing a time.. that'd offer way too many options for it to be workable.

Not to mention things like food allergies, kosher meals, and such.

I would be faster..waiting on hold, and them most the time there person on the phone is really slow!

The people on the phones are not slow, the system they have to work with is slow. I worked there, there were days when it's amazing we didn't have more nervous breakdowns working that system. Please don't blame the agents....:(
