Dining plans

I have never used the dining plans but with this next trip it is free. We are thinking about staying at POP but it is the quick express meal plan included. I would like opinions on if it is worth upgrading to the dining plus plan. I know we would like to have sit down meals at least 2 or 3 times in the week we are there.
Thanks

It is worth the price of the upgrade if you plan on using all of the TS credits you get. If you leave any on the table you will be better paying cash.
i definately agree with this. We usually do the regular dining plan, and upgraded to Deluxe, with free dining. It's still a bargain. Plus, I really like the fact that almost everything is paid for by the time I arrive.

If you decide to upgrade to the regular DDP, you might want to look into the cost differential of switching to a moderate resort where the regular DDP will be included. That's what we did, and it only cost $27 more to stay at CBR than it would have cost to upgrade the QS dining plan and stay at Pop Century.

The DW and I have never used the free Table dinning but always purchased the Deluxe Dining Plan. We love this plan because we do love to fact we can eat almost anywhere in the parks, resort or Disney propperty for that matter. We always stay at a moderate resort (POR). We love the fact that when we arrive at WDW the only money I need to leave is the Tip. Love to visit and try all the resteraunts at WDW and also enjoy the Character Breakfast and lunches that we do go to durring our 10 night stay.

The upgrade to include table service is definitely worth it in my opinion if your goal is to try sit down meals. We have used the quick service plan and the regular dining plan. For a trip where we want alittle more freedom and not have to worry about being somewhere at a certain time, then we opt for the quick service plan.

I too am concerned about flexibility. I like the freedom of not being tied to reservations. Since we are only talking 4 weeks from now is that enough time to make decent reservations at most of the restaurants?

I think this really depends on what restaurants and times you're looking at booking. Some of the more popular ones will probably be booked, at least during the rush times. You can always search for the reservations online just to see what there is and not book it yet to get an idea.

You have to sit down and figure it out. Decide where you want to stay and where you want to eat. Check menus and prices for what you'd like to order. Find all possible room discounts - see what you qualify for.

What will the room & food cost with the dinng plan? What will room and food cost without it? Pick the cheaper option.

Not really. You might get lucky and score one of the more popular places, but the pickings will be a little on the thin side at 4 weeks out. The good news is you can make ADR's without having the dining plan. There will be no penalty as long as you cancel any reservation made at least 24 hour out.
