Dining Plan Question

Hi all... I have a silly question. I have never done the dining plan before but we will have it when we go for 8 days in September. I understand what we get but I wanted to know if you redeem the meals with vouchers or do you have a card or something that keeps track of what you have used.

Also can you choose to use two sit down meals in one day (knowing that you will not have one for another day)?

One more silly question... Is it a special menu or can you order any entree, dessert, etc from the menu?

Thanks.
Christine

All of your food credits are coded into your room key. You just give the server your key like a credit card. When you get your receipt it will show how many you have left of that type (like if you buy a snack, it will say "You have 11 snacks remaining").

Yes, you can use your credits in anyway you like. You could have 3 table service in one day if you wanted. Just remember that a few places require 2 credits for dinner (Jikos, Cali Grill, CRT,etc);

And you can usually order most anything from the menu (1 appetizer, 1 entree & 1 dessert), but the server will tell you if there are any restrictions. For example, the sampler dessert platter at Le Cellier does not count as a dessert, but they did offer to let us use the dessert credit for 2 people (me & hubby) to allow as 'our' dessert. Some places also will not let you include the 'add-on' listed separately on their menu (such as "add a lobster tail for $8" may not be covered). But some places will. Some places will let you have a milkshake for a drink and others won't. You just have to ask.

You will have it encoded on your resort room key. Just give them your key to charge the meal to DDP.

Yes, you can eat as many meals as you have in whatever order you wish. It's a simple matter of you have credits until you've used them. Once they're gone, they're gone.

There are certain restaurants that indicate they have some items that will incur a surcharge if ordered on DDP, but I've never actually been charged a surcharge and don't recall being told of any surcharges. If you order more than you're allowed [two desserts for example], you'll be asked to pay for the extras, but since I rarely could eat all I was allowed to order, it was never an issue.

Have a look at the DDP Pamphlet for which restaurants have possible surcharges.

I was allowed to have the dessert sampler as my dessert at Le Cellier and DH has his own dessert when we were on the plan in December. This plan is awesome, especially if it is free, but the point is that sometimes certain things are included or not allowed according to the individual server's discression. It always pays to ask your server if something is allowed. Also I always get great ideas here on the boards from what other people have experienced. It can gives me ideas that I would have never thought of as possible.
