Dining Plan ... last minute

So if we book a trip, resort, tickets and then decide the day we get to WDW, that we want to do the dining plan, can this then be added to our package???

I always though it had to be 45 days out or something, but I've never even done the dining plan so don't take my word for it!

No, the DDP needs to be booked at least 72 hours before arrival.

This is correct. You need to add it at least 3 days out.
You can't even book a *new* package reservation less than 3 days out, whether it has the dining plan or not. I just tried for a check-in date of tomorrow and it would only allow a room-only reservation, saying next to tickets, Dining Plan and Memory maker that you have to book them at least 3 days out.
