I've signed up for the dining plan on my next trip. In the Birnbaum guide it mentions surcharges may apply in some instances. Has anyone experienced paying these, and if so for what items??
I'm pretty sure the surcharge items are add-on items. You know, like if you order a steak and then there is the offer to add a lobster tail for an extra $10, then you would have to pay for the add on lobster tail (this is all just for example). Your server should be able to tell you about any extras, but in most cases, lobster is an extra charge.
natalia1681 is mostly right. You would be charged extra for "add-ons" like adding a Lobster Tail to your steak entree. But what Birnbaum's is referring to is in the 2005 plan, there were surcharges for certain entrees at some of the restaurants on the DDP. In the 2006 DDP they eliminated the surcharges on entrees, but kept the extra charge for add-ons. Birnbaum probably still refers to surcharges because it's been done before and might be re-introduced again. Thus far the 2007 plan makes no reference to any surcharges, but that could change.
