Dining Plan and additional guests for dinner

We have the dining plan and my mom is staying in FL for the winter. I thought it might be nice for her to drive up to Disney one day and see us since we will be there right before Christmas. I see I am able to add additional guests while making a reservation. Does it make any difference that we are on the dining plan and they will not be?

In my experience, it makes no difference.

My family traveled with another last April, they were on the dining plan and we weren't. I made reservations for all 8 of us. It was no problem when it was time to pay the bill.

No problem. You can add another person to your reservation. Your CM server will greet you at the table and ask if you are on the DDP. You can inform him/her that you are but your mom isnt...she can pay her bill separately.... or you can be generous and use one of your credits to pay for mom.
