Dining advice

I've spent the last week reading about all the dining options and going through all the menus and I've come to a conclusion... I don't really care. I'm not a food buff. As long as I'm not disgusted by it in some way, it's just food to me. I don't have a favorite dish or a favorite kind of food, so nothing is really a MUST for me. All the different WDW dining options are nice, but I'm not gung-ho that much about any of them to make a ps for and arrange my vacation around them. So beyond the characters meals, it looks like it's gonna be mostly counter service for me. Although, I would like to get in a few meals at a nice restaurant. What advice could you give me? Would I still be able to enjoy a nice meal by just showing up when I feel like it? What are the best options?

If you just want to go whenever you feel like it and not make PS arrangements, you might just want to check wait times when you feel like eating. At popular restaurants you'll have longer wait times. SO I guess you can eat wherever you want as long as you want to wait for it.

6 days until PARADISE! WDW here I COME!!!!

Vince you sound troubled. What I would suggest is this. Make a list of the restaurants that appeal to you. If you don't want to make PS ahead of time, wait until you get there. What ever park you decide to go to on that day, call disney dining that morning and make your PS for the day from your list. If you just show up, depending on the time of year, you could either have a short wait, a long wait or if it's a really popular restaurant, be out of luck. If you want any help with your dining options, PM me and I'll give you a hand.

I agree with Pam...call the day of. Usually that's good enough time to find a seat for dinner. Also...if you'll be eating later on in the evening, you may not have to worry about PS at all. I did dinner late on evening and we only had a 15 minute wait.

Another thing to keep in mind is that it's probably easier to get seated since you're by yourself. When I was there by myself in April 2002 (week following Easter, so the crowds were huge), the only place that I couldn't get into at the last minute was Le Cellier, and I probably could've gotten in if it wasn't so close to the perfect time to eat before seeing Illuminations.

Good for you! I have always used the exact same reasoning. If a restaurant is too busy to give me a seat, then it's very easy to go to another establishment. I have never made a PS request in my many trips to WDW and I have never been turned down at any seating (including several trips to Cindy's). It's like Yogi Bera said, "Nobody goes there anymore, it's too crowded.". Show up when you prefer!
