I've done this 4x now at the Hollywood Brown Derby but not for a few years. I'm going back to WDW October 2014 - have they changed the format at all? Is the menu the same? Do you still get a plate?

Anyone done this recently?

Yes, this is correct. I did it last year, and am set to do it again on Monday.

As of last year you still get a plate (which the Imagineer will autograph with a mettalic pin), an engraved nametag, and a program with a group photo.

As I understand it the menu changes somewhat each time they do it. I've read other accounts where the menu was not the same. The only thing that carries, I believe, is the Grapefruit Cake and the Cobb Salad, both signatures of the Brown Derby.

For example, we had filet with mushroom risotto as an option last time (put Le Cellier to SHAME!...but it was obviously their dish)...so, I think the Imagineer's preferences play a bit into the menu choice for the event.

I could be wrong, but that's my general impression.

Well, since you admit that you are set to do it on Monday, we now expect a full report. ;)

This has been on my Disney Bucketlist for a while and I will finally be able to cross it off this October. :D

Yes please do a report. I have been curious about this for some time. If my wife and I were to go would we be seated at a table with a bunch of sfolks we do not know?

Yes, you would. I already did a report about this elsewhere (see pm). And, if I go again this year, I'll do a report about it on my Trip Report.

I think this sounds so awesome. However... I don't know about losing (even if to something so cool) 3 hours of my day. My DD8 wouldn't be at all interested in this, so I would have to send her and DH off to have fun. Without me.

Each kid is different, but I took my kid last year when she was 7, and she enjoyed it. Also, it's more like 1.5 to 2 hours, not 3.

Dine w/an Imagineer is TOTALLY worth 3 hours out of your day. Granted I take 10 day trips to WDW so 3 hours out of 10 days is nothing. I DON'T recommend it for an 8 year old, however @PrincessMia

I read on WDW's website that you have to purchase the plate now - which is a load of BS...as expensive as the experience is, the plate should be included...IMO

@englanddg - did you end up going?

We went last year. We did not end up going this year...just too much too soon on that day.

When my son was younger, he went to a performing arts HS, and every year we did Dining With an Imagineer. Was always held at the Brown Derby. He LOVED it The food was outstanding, and the time we spent, priceless. The menu was different each time, but creme brulee was usually the dessert. Plus, we have a beautiful set of dishes, signed. Some black, some clear glass. Our most memorable was when we had lunch with Tony Stanley. He was wonderful!! From my experiences, I'd say it's a must do, atleast once

I'm curious about this as well. I've seen posts from last December of people who said they were still given the plate, but nothing more recent than that. I'd love to hear from anyone who had some this recently.

@GoochDSA did you end up doing this in October? Curious as to a recent review.

Indeed we did do it in October. Our Imagineer was really nice and friendly. She is a curator who is in charge of quite a few exhibits in the parks and at some of the resorts. It's gotta tough trying to fill in 3 hours talking about your job, so we did spend quite a bit of time, as a group, talking about Disney, which was fine by us. The food was great and there sure was a lot of it. We ended up cancelling our 8:00 dinner ADR because we just weren't hungry and ended up having a late bite to eat at BRG. We each DID get the plate, however I think that the plate is not included at the DwaI dinners at FF.

Awesome! Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for the info. Was hoping the plates were still included in the price at Brown Derby.

I did it for the second time in January and the plate was included in the price. I tried getting in for this January but it was already booked. the first Imagineer was really good the second is the executive Producer in Fantasyland. She did not personalize our plates like the first imagineer and she didn't stay to take pictures with each one of us. our restairant host was ticked that she left before doing the photos with us.
