I got a gift card for my birthday and was instructed to go and pick out a video camera device with the funds. I have just started looking into this recently.

I would like to ask for opinions.

I will spend about 200 on it. I will use it mostly at WDW, but also family events, etc.

The problem with FLIPS (and similar "portable digital handheld" devices) is that the smaller it is, the more shaky your videos will be. Some camcorders will have stabilizers, or at least grips that make it easier to hold your hand steady. I have a creative VADO recorder and tho the audio and video quality are remarkable (especially for its size), i feel that if its not mounted its just going to be a motion sickness inducing video as any slight move of your hand drastically shifts the image you are recording.

Thank you. I see this with my digital camera video also.

I will look into cameras with "stabilizers".

I tried several Flips and low end Camcorders and I hated them so I spent a little more and got a Canon. Canon VIXIA HF R20 is a good camcorder which takes much better video than the flips ever could.

I have a Kodak playsport... waterproof, shockproof, ideal shooting in 720P despite its 1080P capability.

The quality is well... that would you would expect from something this small. Only thing I HATE, the tripod threads are PLASTIC so they will strip with use.

Number one thing in any video device for me is some kind of stabilizer. Without that everything will be a shaky mess. I think that pretty much rules out all the flip-type products. Really they are no better than an iPhone or equivalent.

I would look into an actual camcorder. Good luck, and let us know how it goes and what you go for.

Thanks everyone. I went shopping on my birthday (about 10 days ago), and purchased the Sony Bloggie 3D. It does have stabilizers. It can shot both 2D and 3D video and stills. Its LCD can display in both 2D and 3D (without glasses). It is 1080P capable. It can zoom in 2D only. It is capable of converting shots taken in 3D to 2D files. To get good depth, objects need to be in the 8 inch to 18 feet range. Distant horizons have very little dimension difference.

I do not have a 3D TV right now, but I am not wanting to relive the memories of today today either am I? I want to relive it tomorrow, and this may be the format of choice at that time.

I was told I could bring it back within two weeks. I have used it a little, and it seems to meet our needs.

I think it would be pretty cool to have 3D video of WDW though.
