Hey all - Long time forum reader, first time poster. I just got back from the trip to WDW (1st trip with my 1 year old, YAY!!) and as much as I feel up to date on all the developments at disney, I couldn't figure out what the construction is just outside Epcot when you are coming from the TTC by monorail. It is a ton of digging. almost looks like they are digging a new lake. anyone know what that is about?

Thank you, sorry if this post is redundant.

They're preparing the land for future development. It was going to be a new Epcot by-the-front-gate Resort, but that's been scrapped. But they're continuing with the land prep anyway creating a new retention pond that's needed when anything is built behind the Land and Seas Pavilion (which, rumor has it, may be some sort of park expansion now, but, if true, is all blue sky and years away). Also, some of that excavated dirt may be heading to beef up the land for the new resort near Fr. Wilderness.
