Different check in dates during free dining

If my daughter and I check in on the last eligible day for free dining (before a black out period) then my husband and son arrive the next day, would I be able to pick up all 4 KTTW cards and all 4 qualify for free dining for our stay? We will all be staying in one room. This might be further complicated by the need for DME for my husband and son on the 2nd day or for my daughter and I on the 1st day (the other 2 would bring the car). Thanks

DME is no problem at all, this happens all the time.

Free Dining is a function of the reservation, not when people actually arrive. So as long as all 4 of you are booked under a single reservation, and at least one of you checks in on the scheduled arrival day, it doesn't matter if the rest of the party arrives on the first day, the second day or the next-to-last day.

And also be aware that even though half your group won't arrive until Day 2, you'll get dining plan credits as if they all arrived on Day 1... So you'll have a couple random credits that you'll have to figure out how to use. :)

yeah, that :lol It should be no problem at all. Just don't feel the need to explain all of that to the check in CM....just check in as if you're checking in everyone and settle the food credits when you all get together.

Yeah that's one you don't even mention to the CM.. we had 5 of us check in one day and 3 arrive the next. The CM never asked where the rest of our party was. U just get the cards for everyone and the rest of the party never has to go near check in.

Did the 3 that arrived the 2nd day use DME? The thing that concerns me is that the 2 arriving the 2nd day will arrive on a black out date for free dining (the arrival date for my DD and I is the last eligible starting date). If we book DME for the 2nd day arrivers, Disney will know when they are arriving and I wondered if that might trigger them to not get the dining plan credits?

That won't matter - your dining plan is based on the day the reservation starts. As long as the other members of your party are on the same reservation number they are included in the package (and in this case - free dining).

My family did this last year in October for free dining: my wife, kids, and MIL flew down on Thursday to get free dining. They got my KTTW on Thursday. I flew down Friday night, and we all used DME. Not only did we have my extra credits from my "first day", but my MIL left early and we had all her credits for the rest of the week, too! We ate well that trip. ;)
