We are leaving in the morning for WDW....(Ya for us)...We bought a AOL prepaid card and were thinking this should be a cheaper way to access the internet there...Has anybody done this? I know that WDW has its own internet and there own phone systems...

The only problem I see is if you need to connect through a hard phone line. If that is the case and you connect through the phone line in you room you will be billed for the phone call which could get quite pricey. If you can go through your cell phone and you don't have roaming charges it will be much less expensive.

From my experience unless a hotel or resort of hotel comes right out and says that local calls are free they charge for them, and in many cases what they charge is ridiculous by any standard. I would call the resort directly and ask if and what they charge for local or toll free calls.

If you have a cell phone check it for a data port. If it has one you might be able to use it to connect to whatever AOL number you choose. You will need the appropriate cable and in many cases the software to operate it.

I don't know about local calls but you can connect through a 1-800 number though you are charged more by AOL.

I think it is 3 minutes for every minute used.

Disney does charge for phone calls. I have Compuserve & when I was down in December, I used my account, with local call number & it was less than a dollar per call (not by the minute) for connection. It's not high speed, but works fine for checking e-mails, etc.
