DHS Dilemma!?!

So for some reason I am having a hard time trying to plan our day at DHS. Maybe I'm just being neurotic, but I'm trying to figure the best outcome.

We have breakfast ADRs at Hollywood and Vine at 8am. There is EMH that morning so the park is opening at 8. Will I still be able to be let in before the park opens?

We also wanted to sign Landon up for Jedi Training, however it throws te biggest curve ball into the days plans. I've heard they let you start signing up 15 minutes before the parks officially open so those with early breakfast ADRs can sign up. Is this true??? Te reason it throws everything off is because there is not a guaranteed time we will get!

Also, do the restaurants only seat complete parties or will they seat my wife and younger son, while me and Landon are signing up for Jedi training?

I am hoping that we get to get him in the 10:10 show that day, but if he doesn't it kind of throws a kink into our plans and FP+ and such....anyone have any answers for me???

If you are there right away, I mean bee line it to that attraction so you are there when the CM gets there you will be able to get him into the 10:10 show. In 2010 when I did it for my boys, I ran right to the place as soon as the rope dropped and had to wait for a bit before the CM even showed up but got my boys in the first show of the day. One thing to note is that your son must be there with you or the CM won't sign him up (ie he can't be at the restaurant while you sign him up) or at least that's how it was in 2010.

Thank you! I knew he had to be with me and I was planning on having me and him sign up while DW and younger DS check in at the restaurant.

Does anyone know if they will seat an incomplete party or will they make my DW wait until we get back from signing up?

You must all be together to be seated at a restaurant.

Thank you, do u know if my wife and son check in, thy won't give away our table or cancel us if we take a few extra minute signing up? I've never done this before with an ADR!

Edit: how early can I get into the park if I have an 8am reso? I'm thinking if we check in early, get seated, then run over and sign him up? Idk...

They won't give away your table, but they'll just have you wait until the whole party is together...now, if you take more than 15-20 minutes, it could affect your seating time.

I totally used H&V this past summer to get both early FP to TSMM and sign the kids up for Jedi Training...We all arrived about 10 minutes before our reservation time which happen to be before park opening. We were seated immediately. I ate a quick plate and then left with out KTTW cards and got the fastpasses, ran back, drank another cup of coffee and we hoofed it out to where you sign for Jedi Training together then went and did used our FP for TSMM and got another set...worked like a dream...

Ya we have a FP for toy story so my only concern I signing up for JT.

I think we will just arrive at the park at 730, by th time we r in the park and at the restaurant it will be 745, get seated quickly and then me and Landon will leave to sign up for JT and then just come back...

For anyone know if you are able to pick a time, or is it jut given to you. I would assume especially since FP+ integration tht they would be flexible with this? I am hoping for a show before noon because that's when all our FP start for the day...

They kind of just gave us a time, they did ask if it would be okay and kind of implied we could get a later one but not an earlier one...

I didn't read the other posts, so pardon me if I'm repeating:

We find DHS to be an awkward park to plan, as well. Here's my recommendation:
- At JTA sign-up, tell them about your breakfast plans. If they try and put you into a show that would conflict, you can ask politely if they'll put you in a later one. They schedule the earliest shows first, so it's easier to ask for a later show than an earlier one. (You may be out-of-luck if the show conflicts with some of your FP+, however.)
- I don't know whether breakfast ADRs give one an advantage, but I do suggest you get to DHS as early as possible before rope drop.
- We've been seated before as an "incomplete" party by explaining that the rest of our party was "on the way," but others have reported varying experiences.
