My friend who works in a quick service restaurant in the back of Hollywood Studios by LMA, says his restaurant is closing for a month. They've told him they're doing work around the area not in the actual restaurant. Take this with a grain of salt. But wonder if this is the start of an expansion, with the removal of the studio prop shop and AFI..

Forgot to add that they have not given a reopen date back where he can return to work.

I would guess that it would be the "Studio Catering Company" - that's the only one back there isn't it?

Back lot tour is going to be down next week to remove the contents of AFI. Something was said about building a new gift shop or something. BLT was also down yesterday for a while to remove or install (i'm not sure which) a titanic life boat prop.

Haven't seen anything, but I will keep my eye out for this. The notices of commencement don't get filed until work is about to begin, and the op didn't indicate exactly when this closing would occur.

I don't think so. There have been a lot of these permits for sensor installs in food service locations, and some of them have been for things that are backstage like cast cafeterias. I think it might be something for fire safety.

perhaps they are changing the menu (moving things around in the kitchen).. The crowds have been pretty slim back there lately which I think partly has to do with the craptastic menu.
