Detergent type for washing machines

Does anyone know what type of laundry detergent the washing machines at Saratoga Springs take (e.g. regular vs. HE)? I need to start packing for our trip next week and detergent is on my list 😛 TIA!!

I think I've got some of those all-in-one detergent/fabric softener sheets left. I guess I could always take both (those pods are so small that they can sit in a little container and not take up much space)!

The washing machine/dryer are stacked (dryer on top of washer) and the washer is top loading. DVC provides two boxes of a generic eco-friendly powder - each box is one load. You can get more from Housekeeping.

The washer isn't the best. In addition, your clothes will have that funky Disney water smell which dryer sheets should help get rid of. I throw a cup of white vinegar in the final rinse to try to get rid of that smell.

Oh, Disney doesn't want you to use Tide. Apparently it isn't compatible with their waste system. I bring a small zip lock bag of the powder laundry soap I use at home.

Good to know about the tide. I think we will probably just buy some detergent when we are grocery shopping the first day. With 6 of us there for 10 days, I figure we will be doing quite a bit of laundry (AR least with my 2 messy teenage boys—there is no wearing of clothes twice at their ages with whatever that teen funk is 🤢😜)! Great tip about the vineagar!!

I'd get a liquid detergent, like Gain or Arm & Hammer. As I said, they're not the best washers and powder may not dissolve well.

Since you'll be going to the grocery store, I'd pick up a pack of clothes pins and plastic hangers, for those items that can't be dried in the dryer. I found that using clothes pins on the line you pull out in the shower allows you to put more clothes on it...and they also don't all slide to the middle from the weight. And with 6 people, all the hangers provided may be occupied, so to speak. There's also a nice plastic laundry basket in the room, sometimes under one of the bathroom sinks or the closet where the broom and vacuum are. It differs by resort.

They probably shouldn't sell packs of it in their resort stores then! They certainly were last time we were there, it was all we could get.

I know. I found that interesting. From what I was told, Tide creates too much suds for Disney's system to handle. They used to supply boxes of ALL in the rooms, now it's that generic eco-friendly stuff.

How'd your laundry turn out? Was it the non-HE type (do they even make that type)?

My laundry turned out just fine. I can't remember if it was non-HE, but it might have been. It was a couple summers ago when I used the tide pods at Disney, lately I've been buying All it seems to work just as well for my laundry and it is a little cheaper.
