Has anyone done the wishes dessert party? We have reservations the beginning of Feb. & I was wondering about the "buffet" and can you see Tink from there?

I've been to Disney a billion times but have never gone to the dessert party. Is it worth it? Also, how far out can you book tickets for it? Every time I try, it says there are no tickets available (it could be because I'm trying to book for June and I'm too far out.)

Yes
The tickets for the tomorrow land fireworks dessert party are on their own little schedule , only opening up some 60ish days out. There's a forum on another site that is inhabited by fanatics who keep track of that on a daily basis (google it). When it does open up, its for an entire month, not a sliding day by day window so be ready because sometimes it in the morning, afternoon or evening but they go fast as the seating area is limited to believe 300 is what I remember seeing on the fire marshals occupancy placard. IMHO it's worth it just to stay out of the parade and fireworks mosh pit.

My wife and I try to make it a few times every trip, we had 6 days reserved last December but cut it down to 2.

I was also interested in it so I checked out pics on the net. The desserts look so good and plentiful, as well. I have a question, though. The pics I saw looked like the electrical parade was quite far away. Was it just the pics that looked far away? The firework pics also looked very obstructed by a large tree. If I do try and book it for our summer getaway, I'd want a prime view of the parade and fireworks.

I have reservations for feb 2 and I just made them last weekend. It's on the website now and you no longer need to call but you do have to pay in advance. We have never been to the dessert party I was just wondering about Tink because it is for my daughters 4th bday.

No
We have done it several times and the view and not having to fight crowds make it well worth it. Oh, and the desserts are good too! We have it planned for feb 14 again and we are looking forward to it.

We did the Wishes Dessert Party on Nov. 6, 2012, for my birthday and to celebrate my in-laws 43rd Anniversary, and here's what I've deduced:

SUCCESS!

Like another poster mentioned, if you made any other ADR's for that day, make sure they're early! I made a 2:25 p.m. reservation at Le Cellier: I told everyone to eat up, but do not order dessert. Our Dessert check-in was for 7 p.m., so between 3-6:45 p.m. we did end up getting a light snack, but not a full-on meal (except for the kids, they had to eat dinner at 5 p.m.). By the time we got to the party, we were hungry!

Now for the actual party:

I was advised somewhere on these boards to not arrive too early, because they will not seat you until your check-in time. I meandered past the area 30 min. prior to our check-in (which was one of the first time blocks), and found no one around. I came back 20 min. later, and sure enough a line had formed: the check-in podium is located at the bottom of the ramp toward Tomorrowland, NOT toward Main Street. The rest of my group was riding the People Mover, so I stood in line and got us checked-in. At check-in (after standing in line for 10 min., it was 7:05 p.m.), I was given a wristband and told that the rest of my party could stand in line once they got there and then receive their wristbands (no issues with our group being split up). Since I had a stroller, a kind CM took it from me and rolled it up the next dining tier.

Onto food and lines: Because I had checked in on-time, and our table was literally right next to the dessert bar, I wasted no time and began loading up. It's a smallish area with the dessert tables set up like a "U" and one more bar in the middle. On each side of the "U" are the same items...at the back are your drinks (water, milk, coffee), and in the middle was fruit and some other desserts. My first trip to the bars, there were maybe 3 people, so I was able to load 2 plates (dessert plates mind you). My second pass, which was only a couple minutes later, was getting packed. The plan was to start getting stuff for my DD's and DH, then go back up for myself...in the process of getting fruit for my kids, I dropped a plate (which I profusely apologized for and was promptly cleaned up by a CM). TIP: although you might be tempted to collect as many desserts as possible, don't rush, they bring more.

Oh, there was a PP photographer on hand to take portraits with Cinderella's Castle as the backdrop...not sure if they do this all the time or just because the Castle was iced out?

(here's us)

In all, our party went up 4 or 5 times, trying to sample everything that was up there...no one left a dessert on their plate! However, word to the wise: bring your own water...the water they had on tap was DISGUSTING!!!! I was not the only one to complain:confused:. By the time Wishes started, the "U" was more of an "i," and CM's stopped replenishing the bar by then. Also, guests do not stay in at their table to watch the fireworks: just about everyone leaves their table and gathers around the rails...really, there was no bad viewing spots on the Terrace. With 10 min. to go, our group staked their place, but my DH stayed at the table with DD6, because she doesn't like the "boom" (and they could still see the fireworks). The best part, watching Tink fly right over us...my DD's squealed with delight!!

(my camera battery was almost kaput, thus my shutter wasn't releasing quick enough, thus the blurry pic of Tink)

Some firework pics from our vantage point:

All in all, we're glad we did it, and it was that little extra touch of magic for our trip. Would we do it again: well, it depends on the circumstances, but I'm pretty sure we will!

Enjoy it!

Oh, I didn't address the number of people there: my estimates were closer to 80. However, 80 people is better then fending off hundreds to get a clear vantage point AND you get to satisfy your sweetest of sweet tooths to boot!
Only issue I found, between 7:15-7:45 (with Wishes starting at 8 p.m.), that little area dedicated to the desserts was awfully crowded...so if you're at all claustrophobic, either get there early, send someone else up, or go up once you see folks lining the rails (but not all the desserts will be available by that point).

We also did it back in Nov...and I'd recommend it. It's not my favorite angle to view Wishes, but it's still worth it to beat the crowds. Word to the wise...everyone will crowd the railing come Wishes time, but we found there was plenty of space along the rail for everyone in the party to get a front row view. Tink also does fly right over...just look for the cable and position yourself as close to under that as possible if you want the "flying right over head" view. We were off to the left, but she was still pretty close. As for the food...it's tasty. Sure it's mass produced and in line with typical buffet dessert offerings, but it's tasty and fun to have a "dinner" of sweet treats.

These are some of our food pics...

Those mango shooters were the fave at our table. DELISH!
