Demand pricing

Has there been any news of future demand pricing. I know they have season rates in hotels and all. My complaint is I generally go around Christmas and new years... usually several days before schools let out for the holidays so I get several low crowd days... but the week before Christmas through new year's is insanely crowded...

Disney should implement true demand based pricing to control crowds... I would gladly pay an extra 30-40% and loose any specials for lower crowd levels

I also think k they need to raise the price of the Florida season pass more drastically than they already have

They do have demand based pricing already and have for a very long time. There is Value season, Regular Season, Peak Season, and Holiday season(highest prices for resorts and dining (buffets are at the highest prices) all year). :)

That's really just been for hotels... the ticket prices and suck remain low... except for the 1 day during peek.

It will not stop people from going the priciest holiday weeks if multi day tickets are raised. Obviously these people are willing to pay the highest prices already for rooms and such so the higher multi day tickets won't phase them. Plus some of these folks have AP's so it does not affect them anyway. Lol Sorry if you go at this time you will just have to deal with the crowds. We go for 2 weeks after thanksgiving and love it. Crowds Aren't as bad at all and it's much cheaper. (Well less points for us now being we are currently DVC members since 2013). ;)

Disagree... many go due to the specials... example

Check-in by December 18th and get free dining your whole stay...

If they did away with that and made it to where you only got free dining until December 18th then the people who couldn't afford it without the specials wouldn't be there. Thus cutting down crowds

These folks are paying FULL RACK rate for their rooms just to get free dining up to 14 days. So I really don't think it will stop anyone that this is their only time to go all year and look forward to it. They just won't do a dining plan then to save money or will pay for it anyway as we always paid for a dining plan and never used "free" dining. These folks have the funds to pay full rack rate for a room at peak/holiday pricing (we never paid full rack rate) so I doubt it will thin crowds much if at all. ;)

Kudos for TDO for keeping prices artificially low during this period? So price is totally inelastic during this period? Raise the price and no decrease in quantity demanded?

I usually do a few of the tours ... there just comes a point when you need to start looking after the people with the money to really support your organization instead of the masses... the general public can have 10 months a year, but at least reserve the holidays for the people who can truly afford to go and support your company

They are doing what you ask for. But every time they jack up prices people keep paying. Apparently this last round of price increases has finally slowed attendance. But it might just be that people are waiting for Star Wars land.

Rest assured next year will see another 5% ticket price increase at least. Hopefully that will work for you.

Agree with this....if free dining stopped on the 18th, so would those "value" based travelers. Value in quotes because you are still paying rack rate for a room.

I agree with the free dining example. But I would disagree

Agree here. Having gone numerous times from Christmas thru to New Years, it is not only the busiest time of year, but also the most expensive! By far. We get it is going to be expensive. And, especially at the Resorts, on average, there is a different type of Guest staying at the Resorts than during less expensive times. I am not saying better or worse, just different. I have been fortunate to go to Disney World during every single time of year, and you can make generalizations about average Guest type. And those already paying extra to go for NYE will continue to pay extra, on average. Especially at the Disney Resorts.

You mean like supporting the locals and the passholders that kept the resort in business after September 12, 2001?
