Deluxe Resorts 2/1 - 2/8

Hey everyone. Hopefully someone can help get me an answer. I'm trying to book a 7 night trip in February and was very interested in staying at the Contemporary. When I look for availability the site shows the only available rooms for that week are Tower-theme park view and concierge which is a little more than I want to spend. Switched over to Beach Club and saw the same, only upgraded rooms available, Boardwalk - more of the same. I find this very strange, so I called Disney and they wouldn't give me a straight answer. It seems tough for me to believe that every standard view at the majority of deluxe resorts is booked for that week (and I checked starting the day the pricing was first released for 2014 and it showed the same Unavailability). Is anyone aware of some major happening this week that would cause this? i really find it hard to believe that the Super Bowl is the reason being its in NY. Or is this just Disney blocking these rooms or some other strange reason? Thanks to anyone in advance.

No, President's week is later. We're going during the same time frame (1/31-2/9). It actually seems to be the PERFECT week to go because it's in between breaks and competitions. I just tried the same thing and got the same result...no standard rooms. I can't believe they're all booked, there must be something wrong with their reservation system.

Standard view is available in moderate and value resorts online...

Actually you may be right. I just tried standard room in other deluxe resorts and they're popping up. Standard at WL is $335 per night and available. My guess is maybe there's a convention going on at Contemporary during that time frame.

I actually researched the convention angle and came up empty. And if you think of it a convention wouldn't take up the thousand of units that make up the majority of deluxe standards at BW, Con, Beach, Yacht and Poly. Even the studios and 1 BR are limited in their Villa resorts, answer I got from Disney in relation to that was they're placed on hold for Vacation Club members only and are released much closer to date.

It does not take much for this to happen especially at the Contemporary. BLT cut the number of standard garden wing rooms in half. It is also one of Disney's more popular convention resorts which can fill up rooms in a heartbeat. Lastly, it only takes one day of your trip occurring when the resort is full to cause this to happen. There might be room on all of your days save for the 5th and it will cause the reservation system to kick out the standard room option. If it is possible for you to move your dates try moving them backwards and forwards a day or two and see what pops up. If not, all you can do is pick your best option and keep checking for a cancellation.

I just searched for those dates and found standard view rooms at Animal Kingdom $325.00 a night and Boardwalk $420.00 per night 1-8 Feb 2 adults 2 kids

As far as I know there aren't any discounts available yet for that time period. Perhaps they're holding onto some rooms when the announcement is released. On can wish right?:cautious:

Last week I booked a trip for Presidents Day week (yes, I know). I made 4 calls to get different quotes and to book the room. I had a funky experience with two reservations CMs giving me one set of rates and telling me of limited availability, then the next two giving me another set of rates and telling me there was lots of availability. They couldn't (or wouldn't explain) the reason for the different rates and availability. My guess is that there was some sort of weird thing going on in the reservations system last week that may have also impacted your search. Have you called since and asked again?

I've noticed the same thing - want to stay at AKL in February - I've put in dates from 8 to 22 for varying lengths. It will Only let me book with Savannah view!

Well just an update, our trip has expanded to include my parents and my brothers family. We decided on looking into a two or three bedroom villa. So again the site wouldn't provide me with any real estimates for a party of 6 adults, 3 children and 2 infants. I called Disney and inquired about Bay Lake Tower and were told that they couldn't accommodate a party of that size there but the three BR at Saratoga Springs was available at 12000+ room only...then after a long pause...wait a minute a two bedroom at the...wait for it...Grand Floridian Villas can accommodate our party. After settling on a package it came out to around 12,300 (i have the invoice to prove it LOL) for villa with hoppers for 7 nights. For three families its a little over 4000 each which, to stay in a resort I would normally not even price out, seemed like a decent enough price. So we booked that. Thanks for all the helpful responses and looking forwards to Feb 1.
