Deluxe or Standard at AKL? What's the difference?

Can anybody shed some light on the difference between a standard Savanah View room and a deluxe Savanah View room at the Animal Kingdom Lodge? All I can gather is that the deluxe may be a bit bigger to accomodate a 5th person. Does anybody know if deluxe savanah views have any other benefits over a standard savanah view? Thanks!! :D

I had the same questions. I was told by Disney travel that the deluxe is BIGGER and it has a BETTER view.

Now this could be the wrong info they gave me, but that's what I was told.

If anyone knows better, please post so I can change my ressie and save $500

deluxe is on the 5th floor and is a few feet bigger. There is also and extra chair in the room.

I'm not sure if a 5th person is allowed but there is enough room for a small ______ or sleeping bag on the floor.

deluxe isn't necessarly a better view. You are up higher than most of the trees but one of our deluxe rooms had a tree far away that was right in line with the animals. We had a good view when we were in a std room on the 3rd floor.

I like the deluxe rooms because they feel bigger and the arm chair is comfortable but it may be worth it to save the money

Meega, nala kwishta!
I've been in both.

1) Deluxes rooms are on the fifth and sixth floors, but the ones on the sixth are for conciege only. The ones on the fifth are a mix or conciege/non-conciege.

2) The deluxe rooms are a few sq. feet larger than a standard, standard are 344, deluxe are 381.

3) View is subjective. Some of the lower views can get you very close to animals that like to lay and forage near the buildings, but you will not be able to see animals that are further back as easily. The reverse is true of the higher views. And sometimes trees can obscure certain views depending upon how high or low you are.

4) Deluxes can accomidate up to 5 people.

5) You can only get conciege options in a deluxe room.

Hope that helps!

I've been in both as well. The difference isn't major, but I actually enjoyed the lower view better. There's something so amazing about seeing exotic animals that close to where you're sleeping and reading the morning paper. However, if you're really into add conceriege to your room, then I'd go ahead and do that. Heck, I'd sleep in the lobby if they'd let me. AKL is amazing.

Not all Deluxe rooms are on the higher floors. We always get a Deluxe Savannah View Room and request Arusa Rock overlook. They're bigger and some have bunk beds. I like the sinks at AKL and I think the rooms are a tad bigger than Wilderness Lodge, or at least they felt that way.

It's my favorite resort and I can't wait for our October trip!

Annoyed A little bit...AKL

We are going Nov 5-Nov 13 Staying at the AKL Deluxe Savana...I wanted to add conciege features but we are told we can't be [font=&quot]guaranteed on getting a savanna view. Seems like for spending the extra money they can at least lock in the kind of view you would like??!!!
