Deleted threads and "likes"

Just curious when threads magically disappear like the recent "kid with chicken pox" one and you have received likes on postings do they also disappear? Not that I really care but I was trying to find the thread everywhere to check in on it and could not locate it so I thought I would look in "likes you have received" to track down where it had been moved to and even the likes I had on a post are gone along with all traces of the thread.

I am surprised it cannot just get locked and relinquished to an archive or something but hey, I'm not an admin so what do I know...

Yes the likes are wiped out along with the posts.
