Decent apartments with 6 month lease?

I am planning to travel down to the area in order to apply for a WDW job. I was wanting to know if anyone could recommend a decent apartment complex which only required a 6 month contract. Most are requiring a 12 month agreement and I don't want to do that in case things don't work out.

I'm curious as well, shortest I can find is 8-12 months

There is a weird tax issue in Florida due to all of the part time residents and tourism. The way it used to be is that any lease of 6 months or less must be taxed similarly to a hotel room. You'll likely not find one for a term less than 7 months as a result. That law may have fine tuned over the years but I'm not aware that it has gone away.

Yes, seven months is the minimum. Apartment websites are also typically awful, most using one of a few stock templates and verbiage. Your best bet is probably to call and ask.

Just called around asking, my apt currently in Tampa does by monthly starting at 8 as well and upward. That's with Camden who has a few properties in Orlando as well

The 7 month minimum still stands. You can blame the British tourists for that... previously they would come and rent an apartment for a month or two at a great savings rather than a hotel. The resorts didn't like it and neither did the state sales tax coffers. Apartments prefer to get you in a 12-15 month lease because it reduces their turn costs. I haven't seen anything less than 8 months, and be aware that they usually charge you a monthly premium in the hundreds of dollars for short leases. At the end of your lease term, usually your options are to vacate, sign a new lease, or continue month to month at an even higher rate (no lodging tax on continuing month to month because you've already satisfied the minimum time period). Most of the big apartment companies or house property management companies stay above the table with those terms. There are however a lot of people who rent out extra bedrooms in their houses without the red tape. These are hit and miss whether it's creepers or not. And actually a lot of people live (for years sometimes) in "motels" with weekly or monthly rates. These are not nice places.

It's not that expensive to break a lease... usually one month's rent. I had a twelve month lease and then broke it halfway through when I bought a house.
